Open Roads Delayed To Late March

The Open Roads team is no longer eyeing a February release date, pushing it to late March instead. The Annapurna Interactive-published game will feature a notable voice cast, including Kaitlyn Dever and Keri Russel.

In a statement to Engadget, an Annapurna spokesperson spilled the beans, claiming it was largely to ensure the “most polished experience for players.” Open Roads is largely a nostalgia-heavy experience with a narrative focus on family bonds, as 16-year-old Tess Devine hits the road with her mother, Opal, in search of a long-since buried family past.

Instead of hitting the road in February, though, we suppose jumping in the car for a March 28 road trip isn’t a bad deal, either.

Broken Roads Delayed Just Days From Release

Drop Bear Bytes’ cRPG Broken Roads has been slapped with a delay mere days before the game was poised to release. The game will now release in early 2024.

The Australian dev team announced on Twitter (via IGN) that the game needs a bit more polish and won’t be released until next year. Billed as an isometric RPG akin to the old PC Fallout games set in Australia, Broken Roads looks rather promising for that niche demographic. Now, rather than a split release as initially intended, Drop Bear Bytes plans on releasing all versions together.

This is no doubt a disappointment to some, but it is refreshing considering how many games would just let the game release in an unpolished or incomplete state just to have legions of fans — understandably — demanding fixes.

What do you think? Are you happy the team is delaying the game rather than “fixing it later?” Are you going to pick up Broken Roads when it releases next year? Let us know below!

Phasmophobia Delayed Due To “Fire Incident”

Kinetic Games has revealed that it will no longer be releasing Phasmophobia to consoles with its August release window. The developer has been working hard to bring the paranormal investigation title to consoles, with PSVR 2 owners even getting a special VR version.

As shared on X, this is no longer the case due to a “fire incident” at the developer’s office building, which has hindered its ability to test and develop the new versions further. On top of that, it’s also cited “unpredicted development issues” as another problem they have to overcome before releasing the game.

It isn’t all bad, though. While we aren’t going to be able to ghost hunt on PS5 this month, we were given a slightly more targeted release window. However, it’s gonna face some competition as it’ll be the week leading up to Halloween.

Deathloop Delayed Again Only One Month From Release

Deathloop

The upcoming PS5 timed-exclusive, Deathloop, has been subject to yet another delay. Announced over on Twitter, Arkane Studios dropped the news in a short post accompanied by a video.

The studio wants to provide the best possible experience and believes they aren’t there yet.

The game was initially set to hit the PS5 in August 2020, but due to the pandemic, they decided to release the game in Q2 2021, which was revealed to be May 21, 2021. However, here we are with a new date set of September 14, 2021.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that Deathloop’s been delayed again?

Cuphead’s The Delicious Last Course Delayed… Again

The Delicious Last Course

Cuphead’s The Delicious Last Course isn’t launching this year, after all. Studio MDHR took it upon themselves to announce that, in true “MDHR fashion,” the studio isn’t releasing the DLC unless it’s the best it can produce.

The studio placed the blame on COVID-19 and working from home as a massive contributor in its decision to push the release from 2020 to 2021. This isn’t even the first time Studio MDHR delayed The Delicious Last Course. The DLC was originally slated to go live in 2019 but was eventually delayed to 2020.

Obviously, this news isn’t shocking to most, not only does this year really feel like the year of delays, but we’re also really close to next year, so most Cuphead fans probably already expected it’d be delayed.

Far Cry 6 Will Release In April 2021 At Best

Far Cry 6

Welp, Far Cry 6 is sadly the newest game to see a delay. Ubisoft revealed the newest entry to the famed franchise won’t hit store shelves early next year as planned.

Ubisoft originally planned to release the game on February 18, 2021. The developer, however, took the tried and true excuse of working from home problems and so far haven’t clarified when the games will launch, only giving a loose timeline to its investors. As it stands, Far Cry 6 may release anywhere between April 1, 2021, through September 30.

This delay comes at the heels of Cyberpunk 2077 getting delayed yet again due to getting all the platforms tested and perfected while working from home.

What do you think? Do you have hope this time will improve Far Cry 6? Tell us below!
