Sony has unveiled the new entries to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, which is a perk for Extra and Premium members, akin to the free games you get as part of the Essential plan.

  • Grand Theft Auto V* | PS4, PS5
  • Dying Light 2: Stay Human | PS4, PS5

Sony Eyes Yearly “Major” PlayStation Exclusives

Sony might be looking at more consistent major PlayStation exclusive releases. This comes after they note that they’re expecting a financial dip after not releasing any major exclusives this quarter.

During their financial presentation (via PSLS), Sony asserts major releases will be a yearly thing starting next year with Ghost of Yotei.

“We are making steady progress in the development of new titles and in improving our live service game processes, Starting with Ghost of Yotei, which is a sequel to the smash hit Ghost of Tsushima, we plan to continue releasing major single-player game titles every year from next fiscal year onwards.”

What’s more important here is the fact they signal more single player games over multiplayer fare, something that we’re sure is good news to many fans.

PS5 Pro Price Hasn’t Had A “Negative Impact” On Sales

Sony’s Hiroki Totoki asserts that the $700 price tag attached to the PS5 Pro, which also sells special attachments like the disc drive separately while not working with existing PS5 faceplates, hasn’t had a negative impact on the console as “hardcore users” are the demographic of the mid-gen refresh.

Spotted by Genki, the exec expressed that he — and the company itself isn’t too worried about the price and how the console isn’t selling poorly.

The console itself is faltering in terms of the standard rounds consoles face with scalpers. Whereas scalpers jumped at PS5 flipping during the chip shortages and even bled into the PlayStation Portal, the PS5 Pro’s ROI is significantly less, leading to early scalpers selling the console for market value or even slightly less just to get it off their hands.

Astro Bot Sells 1.5 Million Copies

Sony’s latest first-party smash-hit, Astro Bot, has sold over 1.5 million copies in nine weeks.

During Sony‘s Q2 fiscal year result, which ended on September 30, the Japanese giant showed off game sales across its major titles, with applicable games having its numbers combined with PC, such as Helldivers 2, which sits at 12 million, and 2018’s God of War, which stands at 23 million.

Considering Astro Bot is continuing to thrive, especially as new content is added, we suspect this number is a bit higher now as more people are willing to bite the bullet of the game after seeing more content. Developer Team Asobi is obviously pretty dedicated not just to this cutesy bot, but also filling a void that basically all of PlayStation’s studios don’t touch.

In our review, we said: “This lovable, adorable white and blue bot offers a mixture of fun and engaging platforming gameplay with the PS5 spin and PlayStation nostalgia to please both new and longtime fans in multiple ways. “

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Coming To PS5

Before Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios worked on Divinity: Original Sin 2 for previous gen consoles and PC. Well, now it looks like it’s making a comeback with a current-gen native version.

As spotted by Gematsu, the game appears to be rated on PEGI. PSX Extreme can confirm that it’s real, but can’t confirm it wasn’t there before. Regardless, searching the PlayStation Store yields only a PS4 version and not a native PS5 copy.

With the runaway success that Larian’s 2023 release — Baldur’s Gate 3 — was, we wouldn’t be too surprised if a current-gen edition is in the works to give people a taste of Larian’s past for those who are interested.
