Detroit Become Human Surpasses 8M Copies Sold Worldwide

Detroit Become Human

Quantic Dream‘s PlayStation send-off title, Detroit Become Human, surpassed eight million copies sold worldwide since its 2018 launch. It’s worth noting this is accounting for both its PS4 and PC sales.

The news was shared on Twitter by the official account (via PSU). This wasn’t the first publicly celebrated milestone the narrative adventure accomplished. In December 2018, the game sold two million copies since its release earlier that year. In March, the team revealed it sold 6.5 million copies since launch. This is a pretty sweet milestone to smash through. It’s also clear the game is still at the forefront of peoples’ minds if the game went from 6.5 million to eight million in a matter of a little under a year.

Back in September 2021, it was revealed part of the reason Sony was wanting to push Detroit Become Human out the door was to get the three-game contract over with. Allegedly, the narrative game featured a fourth protagonist that acted as a “whore android” and her existence alongside some of the situations she’d be in rubbed Sony the wrong way, wanting them to be done with the deal ASAP.

Star Wars Eclipse Is Still Lightyears Away

Star Wars Eclipse

During The Game Awards, Quantic Dream confirmed a rumor that they were working on an open-world Star Wars game. During the event, the studio announced their next project, Star Wars Eclipse.

Well-known industry insider and the one who spilled the beans about Eclipse ahead of its release, Tom Henderson, took to Twitter to share potential details associated to Star Wars Eclipse. According to him, Quantic Dream Paris is penning its story while David Cage is still “very much involved.”

For fans who can’t wait to get their hands on the game, though, it seems QD is still working on it and will be for a while. In fact, it’s at least three to four years away. Part of it is probably due to QD’s main studio in Paris struggling to staff positions, which has over 60 open jobs, thanks to several reports of toxic workplace culture.

Staffing woes aside, the QD Engine, which is what will be used to make Eclipse, also wasn’t meant to be made for an open-world title.

Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse Officially Revealed

Star Wars Eclipse

After much speculation and rumors flying about, Quantic Dream, best-known for the likes of Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, has officially announced during The Game Awards that they’re making a Star Wars game with Lucasfilm Games. Not much is known about Star Wars Eclipse yet.

What we do know is it’s an action-adventure title taking place during the High Republic era. It will be playable in many different ways and offers us a handful of characters to play as, similar to Detroit: Become Human.

Unfortunately, we don’t know what Star Wars Eclipse will look like gameplay-wise as what we got was a cinematic trailer. Also, no release date or even platforms are confirmed, but it seems likely that it’ll release at least on PS5.

Quantic Dream Teased New Projects With Public Info Coming “Soon”

Quantic Dream

Last year was a pretty successful year for Quantic Dream, all things considered. The biggest change was their parent, they went independent and continue to be that way. With the new-found independence, the studio is teasing new projects and recently opened up a store for their fans.

Well-regarded for their story-driven PlayStation titles like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, once independence was acquired, they were ecstatic. They were no longer stuck developing for one console. Even so, it wasn’t too clear what their next move was.

During a recent livestream, though, they did acknowledge that they were working on “many exciting new projects.” What this means, we’ll have to wait.

“We remain game creators, of course, and we’re working on many exciting new projects we cannot talk about yet, but there’s a lot going on at the studio.”

They were cryptic as to when we would hear any news about these new projects. The only definite is it’ll be “soon.” These new projects aren’t the only new thing for fans of their work. Quantic Dream recently launched a website for fans to get some merch. Currently, it’s only available for EU customers.

What do you hope to see from them in the future? Tell us below!

Play A Demo of Detroit: Become Human Tonight

Detroit Become Human

Earlier today co-CEO of Quantic Dream, Guillaume de Fondaumiere, announced on that PlayStation Blog that their upcoming futuristic game Detroit: Become Human has gone gold. The game is ready to go! He talked about how fans have reacted to the game over the last few years and his excitement to get the game in gamers hands.

Detroit is Gold

Quantic Dream has really made a name for itself over the years. Mostly known for games such as Heavy Rain or Fahrenheit, the french company has always made games that are unique to them. Choices you make in these games affect the outcome in interesting ways. It looks like all the practice has paid off as all this has culminated in Detroit. Every decision can change how the story plays out in multiple pathways. It’s a choose your own adventure in a grand way.

Guillaume mentioned all the work over the last four years the team put into Detroit but the concept has been around for even longer than that. The well known team blew everyone away clear back in 2012 on the PS3. It was just a tech demo and not a new game at the time but it was well acted and engaging and planted the seed for Detroit.

The game has come a long way and looks to bring an interesting aspect to the concept of androids and humans coexisting (or not). Not only did the game go gold today but they are also releasing a demo which will be available April 24th at 12:01 AM. That’s tonight! The demo is the first area of the game and is also the same demo that was played live with the crowd at PSX 2017. Although corny it was pretty fun.

You can also use Alexa to help you gather more information. If you happen to have Alexa, you can use what is called the “Cyberlife” skill and ask questions about the game.

With the CyberLife Skill, you’ll be able to learn more about the world of Detroit: Become Human:

  • Tell Me About – Get more details as you examine every piece of the crime scene.Try saying: “Alexa, ask CyberLife to tell me about the fish?”

  • What’s Their Story? – Uncover the truth behind any character you find within the demo.Try saying: “Alexa, ask CyberLife to tell me about the Phillips Family?”

  • Alter the Course of History – Using the Flowchart at the end of the demo, use the skill to discover alternate endings.Try saying: “Alexa, ask CyberLife why Connor failed to reach Daniel in time?”

Check out the demo and hopefully it will hold you over until the May 25th release date. Congrats once again to Quantic Dream.
