The Medium Rated For PS5 Release

The Medium

It sounds like Team Bloober’s The Medium is slated to launch to the PS5 in the future. The game has been slapped with an M rating by the ESRB.

While The Medium doesn’t have a PS5 port release date yet, it’s fair to say it could be as early as a few months away from some sort of official word from either Koch or Team Bloober.

Earlier this year, Koch Media, the game’s distributor, did divulge plans to release the game physically, but stopped short of mentioning the platforms that will get that treatment.

Payday 3 Lives As Dev Signs Agreement With Koch Media

Payday 3

Many games find themselves stuck in what people in the gaming scene call Development Hell. This term refers to games that are insistent on still existing even if nothing is really revealed or seems no closer to release than the last time it was uttered. This was the case with Payday 3.

Made by Starbreeze, a studio that’s got one foot in Death’s door, found it difficult to find a publisher for its third installment of the established IP. Now, it’s looking bright for the game’s future as Koch Media has stepped in to co-publish and fully finance the title.

Koch has pledged just shy of $60 million to aid in both the marketing and development side of things. On top of that, part of the deal is guaranteed support for at the very least 18 months.

This partnership is much needed for Payday 3. Initially revealed in 2017, its significance got lost in the fray of all the restructuring done from selling subsidiaries to postponingnot canceling – Overkill’s The Walking Dead, and even laying off staff.

This game could truly make or break Starbreeze’s future. At this stage, it’s sounding like we could finally get our hands on Payday 3 sometime in 2023.

THQ Nordic Squashes TimeSplitters 2 Remake Rumor

TimeSplitters 2 remake

Well, that was short-lived. Just yesterday, we put out what seemed to be a possible tease toward a TimeSplitters 2 remake. In SpellForce 3: Fallen God, there was an item that pointed to an in-bound remake. Sadly, this seems to have been too good to be true.

The content itself is real, however, Nordic has since refuted the validity of it to Eurogamer. The studio hid behind the vendor’s lore.

“The vendor in the game is a character known especially for not telling the truth.”

Sorry for putting a damper on the hope, but here’s hoping perhaps this short-lived excitement will spark a new level of interest in the franchise.

What do you think? Do you hope this will turn heads to the franchise or is THQ Nordic trying to cover up something? Tell us below!

Did THQ Nordic Just Tease A TimeSplitters 2 Remake?

TimeSplitters 2 remake

THQ Nordic might have teased the existence of a TimeSplitters 2 remake in the works. As noticed by a YouTube channel, SpellForce 3: Fallen God houses some items that refer to other games in THQ Nordic’s library like SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom’s remake, Biomutant, and Gothic Remake.

One item, however, pointed to a yet-to-be-announced TimeSplitters 2 remake. The idea of the studio returning to TimeSplitters franchise is far from a shocking one. Back in August, Koch Media shared news of it acquiring the IP.

As it stands now, it isn’t clear if this was some twisted joke the developer decided to play on the fanbase or a real, genuine nudge to the fans starved for more TimeSplitters.

What do you think? Is this a nudge to the excited players? Tell us below!

Koch Media Acquires TimeSplitters and Second Sight

Timesplitters

A couple classics are making their triumphant return to the gaming market under a new owner. PS2 classic, TimeSplitters, has been around since 2000, but the most recent title was all the way from 2005. Now, the franchise has a new owner and they aren’t going to let the franchise go to waste.

Koch Media, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic, now has the rights to make new TimeSplitters titles as well as re-release old ones. This is due to their affiliation with Deep Silver who are a subsidiary of Koch Media. While no information has come out or been confirmed, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that they could remake the old titles and release new ones shortly after.

This isn’t the end either, Koch Media also owns the rights to the science fiction, stealth-adventure game, Second Sight.

Koch Media, Deep Silver Acquire IP Rights To Saints Row, Metro

THQ has been trying to sell their assets and today, a couple have been picked up by Koch Media and Deep Silver.

The company that brought you Dead Island has acquired the intellectual property rights for two of THQ's best franchises, Saints Row and Metro . They've also nabbed the Chicago-based studio that used to be under THQ's flag, Volition.

Therefore, moving forward, Deep Silver will handle "all further development and marketing" on the two aforementioned franchises, each of which has managed to sell millions of units worldwide. Said Koch Media GmbH CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz:

"Koch Media welcomes the addition of these magnificent franchises to the Koch Media family of entertainment properties. With more than 200 games on notable platforms globally, and its proven success creating renowned franchises like Dead Island, Deep Silver is perfectly positioned to lead these brands into the next generation of interactive entertainment for fans around the world."

Deep Silver COO Geoff Mulligan added that the Saints Row and Metro franchises "hold a special place in the hearts and minds of anyone who loves exceptional video games," and the company is "thrilled to usher in a new era." There's no doubt that the addition of the talented Volition team will help as well. We're all anticipating Saints Row 4 at some point and Metro: Last Light is slated to launch on March 31. Here's hoping Deep Silver has some success with future installments.
