Yes, God Of War Ragnarok Is Heading To PC

The 2018 God of War was revived in 2022 as something of a test for Sony, releasing its high-profile exclusives to PC, and as expected, God of War Ragnarok is following that trend. It will come complete with unlocked frames and its Digital Deluxe Edition will come bundled with the Valhalla DLC and its New Game+, this sounds like it’s gonna be ,

During the May 30 State of Play, it was unveiled that the long-rumored God of War Ragnarok PC version was indeed in the works. Earmarked for a September 19 release date, PC players can pre-purchase the game, though, be aware that much like the initial plan of Helldivers 2 and the current plan of Ghost of Tsushima, a PSN account is required to play the game, even if it is just a single player experience.

Rocket Arena Disappears From Online Marketplaces

Rocket Arena, an EA-published game under its EA Originals, has suddenly disappeared from online marketplaces without as much as a word from its developer. The game launched in 2020,.

Spotted by TechRaptor, the 3v3 multiplayer shooter has gone dark in what feels like overnight. The developer — Final Strike Games — has made no accountments of the shuttering. In fact, the last signal of life in the game was back in October for a double points weekend. The servers are reportedly still operational.

Based on the report, it’s possible the Bellvue-based indie dev is looking to the future with its new unannounced IP, or it could have its hands full as a live-service support studio for Fortnite, which it just so happened to kick off this month.

What do you think? Did you get around to playing Rocket Arena before it disappeared? Let us know below!

Alan Wake 2 Now Playable From “Start To Finish”

Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment’s given a bit of an update on the development of Alan Wake 2. Turns out, it’s reached the state where people can play the game from “start to finish,” though that doesn’t mean it will release soon.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala discussed the game’s status during its recent financial results (via VGC), retaining that development is “going well.” He commented how the team will soon have all elements in place and afterward will move on to the polishing phase.

“Alan Wake 2 is in full production. The game will soon have all content in place, and it is playable from start to finish. We will then move onto polishing the experience. Alan Wake is a unique brand that holds high value for the company today.”

He also addressed the fact Alan Wake Remastered hasn’t generated any royalties for the studio while stirring up hope that Alan Wake 2 will sort all that out and increase sales of the remaster.

“Alan Wake Remastered has not yet generated royalties. However, we expect the sales to increase as the release of Alan Wake 2 becomes imminent and fans and new players want to experience the original story on new generation consoles.”

The first official sign of a sequel to the 2010 thriller was during 2021’s The Game Awards. It would then go a touch dark as creative director Sam Lake doesn’t want to pull people out of the team to make some sort of showcase.

Sifu Preview

Sifu

Sloclap was kind enough to send us a preview level of their upcoming kung fu revenge story, Sifu. Just from the preview we had time with, I can safely say that this is a kung fu game you will not want to miss in early 2022

One of my biggest questions has been eased with this preview — how difficult will the game be? Was it going to be akin to a Dark Souls level of difficult or something more like Cuphead? What I played was the first half of the second chapter taken out of the story to avoid overt spoilers, but I can say with confidence that it won’t be too difficult to get your head around the game’s kung fu combat once you warm up.

I both embarrassingly and miserably failed my first attempt, but once I had a chance to truly know what was coming and a quick trip to the training area to get to know the combos a bit better, I had no issues playing to my advantage. I even used the environment, strewn about weapons, and combos to blaze on through the opponents with some level of ease.

It’s frankly unlike any game I’ve played in quite a while and the whole aging system is done fantastically, which is a breath of fresh air considering I was concerned, especially after the “no difficulty at launch” announcement, that the medallions would break after each use, but that appears not to be the case. Early in your life, the medallions remain intact for a few deaths, in total, it seems that you have up to 10 lives to complete the mission before it’s the final game over.

Getting my time with Sifu also made me understand Sloclap’s means behind what difficulty was to the title. The more you die, the stronger you are, but to balance this out, you do have less health since you’re not a spry young man anymore. I found it rather challenging my first go because of the sheer number of enemies coming my way. I was getting hit from front, back, left, and right. To me, it seems like a fair trade-off, though, for the otherwise rather forgiving feature, since you do get revived from where you stand with the enemies not even regaining health while you’re down.

You can expect Sifu to drop on the PS4 and PS5 on February 8, 2022.

Alan Wake 2 Officially Announced

Alan Wake 2

The Game Awards is rife with announcements and one such is the official reveal of Alan Wake 2. It’s the sequel to its precursor, one that found itself back in the spotlight and on digital storefronts after messy music licensing woes that spanned a whole year. Jump forward to this year and Alan Wake Remastered released in early October.

Obviously, fans already expected this wasn’t the end of Wake’s adventures, especially since Remedy Entertainment was already working on a sequel while working on the original. This time around, the developer has some help with Epic Games leading the publishing charge while Remedy does what it does best — develop.

That said, it isn’t the same as Alan Wake’s action-adventure history, in fact, Remedy’s Sam Lake touts it as their first leap into the survival horror genre and that he feels it’s the perfect genre to “bring together the story and gameplay, closer than ever before.”

Alan Wake 2 is coming to “current-gen” consoles sometime in 2023.

Fortnite Impostors Mode Introduced

Fortnite Impostors

Having launched on August 17, Fortnite Impostors (check out our review of the battle royale mode) is a new game mode not unlike the popular Among Us game, though, developer InnerSloth was quick to note they had no association to the new Fortnite game mode. Players are divided into two teams — Agents and Impostors — for a total of up to ten players in a single lobby. Up to eight of these players are tasked with accomplishing tasks around headquarters as Agents while the Impostors try to eliminate the other players without getting caught. The Bridge location as part of the new Fortnite: Impostors gameplay mode.

Epic released more about the mode and the different roles and what to expect from them. While the recommended amount is 10 players in a lobby, there are rules for fewer players as well. Players can then call for a Discussion, in which they share information about who the Impostors are. The ever-popular emote wheel can also be used to physically point at other players for added effect. This can be done by either discovering an eliminated Agent or going to the Bridge and interacting with the Discussion panel.

Epic also released a short video talking about the story behind the Fortnite Impostors mode, which you can view below.
