New Cyberpunk 2077 Patch In-Bound

CD Projekt Red is planning on releasing a new Cyberpunk 2077 patch, with more details coming after the weekend. This is yet another patch after the game has been largely deemed complete, with no other DLCs or major overhauls in-bound.

The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter shared its plans to release a new patch focusing on “common issues” its community has reported. Considering we have no reason to believe otherwise, we assume this patch will hit the public sometime on Tuesday. Because of this condensed schedule, we assume Monday morning will offer patch notes or some abridged Twitter thread about what it changes.

Stuff like autofixes, leading to Phantom Liberty vehicles being unobtainable, and finisher animations are particularly mentioned.

What do you think? Are you excited for this patch, as minor as it may be? Let us know below!

CDPR Kicking Around Cyberpunk 2 Multiplayer Idea

CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red had quite the comeback since its botched Cyberpunk 2077 launch, winning some awards at The Game Awards, and other outlets, now it seems multiplayer is on the table for its sequel. There were initially plans to have multiplayer in the original game before it was scrapped, much like a laundry list of other features following the disastrous launch.

Speaking to Reuters, co-CEOs Adam Badowski and Michal Nowakowski expressed that the team is considering multiplayer again. It’s worth pointing out that we know very little about Project Orion, the codename for Cyberpunk 2. What we do know, though, is the game is still working out a lot.

We know it will supposedly have branching story paths based on your Life Path, alongside some details like how it’s still working out if it’ll be first-person or third-person,  but we’re still some time away. Though, hopefully it won’t be as painful of a wait as Cyberpunk 2077.

We won’t know for a while, as Project Polaris, AKA The Witcher 4, is next in line. Realistically, we’re probably looking at at least a six year wait, if not longer, especially as it’s predicted that the new Witcher game will release sometime between 2026 or 2027.

CDPR Isn’t For Sale, “We Value Independence”

CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red has once again reiterated that it is not looking at getting acquired and becoming part of any larger entity. This is far from the first time the Polish studio had to make this statement, as previously, it was reported that Sony was in talks to acquire the developer.

According to a report from Parkiet (via MP1st), when asked about these new rumors sparking further questions if CDPR is for sale, CEO Adam Kiciński stressed that these were just rumors and that it isn’t for sale, that the team has worked for years to get to the position the studio is in today, and that it values independence. Meanwhile, it has no plans to acquire any companies, but it is open to ideas if it could help its strategy, but isn’t done solely to please financial results.

“These are just rumors. We have always had a clear position, supported by the regulations included in the statute (aimed at preventing a hostile takeover – ed.). We are not interested in being included in any larger entity. We have worked our whole lives to get to the position we have now. And we believe that in a few years we will be even bigger and stronger. We have ambitious plans and we are passionate about what we do. We value independence.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Wins Best Ongoing

Amid the contenders of Fortnite, Final Fantasy 14, Apex Legends, and Genshin Impact, the outlier took the award home — Cyberpunk 2077.

As announced during The Game Awards earlier today, CDPR won Best Ongoing. Some point out that it shouldn’t have won as it’s actually done — no more major content updates are planned as the studio moves onto the game’s sequel and its next Witcher entry.

It is an inspirational story of just how far the game has come from being an unplayable mess on console, leading to Sony breaking its own policies to now.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Tops 4.3 Million Sales

Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion — Phantom Liberty — has topped 4.3 million sales, marking an “important achievement” considering CD Projekt Red’s franchise plans. It sold like hotcakes in its first week, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

VGC reports CDPR CEO Adam Kiciński stating that since its late September release to current-gen hardware and PC, the game’s sole expansion managed to blow beyond 4.3 million copies sold. Obviously, the Polish studio is quite happy for the success, especially since it’s already underway on making a second game in the series and continuing to build its multimedia empire.

“We are very pleased with the launch of Phantom Liberty. Successful release of the expansion, along with Update 2.0 which introduces a slew of additional improvements, elevates Night City gameplay to another level – in terms of quality. This is an important achievement given our plans to further develop the franchise.”

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Launching This December

CD Projekt Red has announced it’ll release an Ultimate Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on December 5, 2023. The Ultimate edition will be released digitally and physically (the first physical release the game will have on next-gen consoles) across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, as said on the Cyberpunk 2077 blog, will include the original Cyberpunk 2077 that featured Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand and the latest award-winning spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty that stars Idris Elba as sleeper agent Solomon Reed.

On top of that, the game will ship with all released updates including the huge 2.0 update, that further helped remedy the problems that plagued Cyberpunk 2077 on its launch, which saw PlayStation remove it from the storefront.
