The PlayStation Portal is making waves across the world, from selling out in Japan to even outselling the Xbox in some regions. Now, it appears “demand has exceeded supply.”
As said by Circana’s Mat Piscatella on Twitter, while he couldn’t cite unit sales, the peripheral is proving to be popular, marking itself in the top five hardware sales back in November and ending up scalped for one reason or another. Its demand exceeding supply for some months now shouldn’t be too shocking as it was in high demand almost immediately.
Luckily, PlayStation knows just how big of a deal the PlayStation Portal is, with PS exec Hiromi Wakai admitted back in February that it’s surpassed the expectations the Japanese console maker set for it.
Can't give units… but demand has exceeded supply for several months now and honestly, it's done better than I'd expected it to. So, props to them. Not massive units, but hey pretty good.
