Firesprite Is Still Hiring For Its Dark Narrative Game

You may remember back in 2022, it was reported that Horizon: Call of the Mountain developer Firesprite was hiring for a narrative horror game. Skip forward to now and it appears it’s still hiring, with six more positions spotted.

As spotted by TheGamer, the job descriptions for positions like senior cinematic designer, head of audio, principal level designer, and principal graphics programmer also describe it as a “huge, highly ambitious project,” which links it back to a 2021 report.

With what little we have, we suspect this game is likely going to be some ways out. It’s also not clear if the previous report of Firesprite’s game releasing next year is still viable with the level of hiring it’s undergoing. The studio was part of PlayStation’s mass layoffs that led to the closure of London Studio earlier in the year.

Insomniac Games Working On New Multiplayer Game

Insomniac Games

One of PlayStation’s big hit-making studios, Insomniac Games, is working on new multiplayer game, according to Insomniac’s head of technology, Shaun McCabe, over on Twitter. Not much is really known about this project, unfortunately.

While the newbie PlayStation gamers out there might see it as a weird move for such a single-player focused studio to move onto a multiplayer project — why fix what isn’t broken — the studio actually has a successful past with multiplayer games from the PS3 era.

Insomniac Games was the dev of one of PS3’s launch titles, Resistance: Fall of Man, which included a multiplayer mode allowing up to 40 players online and four players offline to play together. They then went onto develop to two sequels in the franchise before shuttering online servers in 2014 and — in tandem — shifting focus on perfecting the Ratchet & Clank franchise and working on the Spider-Man games.

It could be this decision to create a multiplayer game is a result of PlayStation’s newfound fixation on multiplayer projects as of late, bolstered especially with their acquisition of Destiny 2 developer, Bungie. This isn’t even mentioning how Naughty Dog is also in the works of a Last of Us multiplayer project.

Bungie Hiring For New Project, Possibly Something Third-Person

Bungie

Bungie is hiring staff for a brand-new project, according to The Game Post, that very well might lead down a different path than their powerhouse that is Destiny 2. The listings appear to have a preference for people who have experience with third-person character-focused action games be it platformers or isometric.

Meanwhile, their contract level designer position requires “experience building and iterating upon a multiplayer level for a PVP game.” It’s possible at least one of the projects in the works is going to offer something of a multiplayer third-person experience, which feels kind of out of left field for a studio who’s been pretty invested in the first-person field.

Earlier this year, it was set in stone that Bungie would join PlayStation family as an independent multi-platform developer and publisher.

Guerrilla Hiring Staff With Live Service Experience For Future Project

Guerrilla Games

Horizon Zero Dawn developer, Guerrilla Games appears to be seeking people with experience in the games as a service field for an unannounced future project. The studio is still very much devoted to what’s currently on its plate, Horizon Forbidden West, but many studios no matter their size have plans for their next project after its current is out in the world.

It seems for Guerrilla Games, that piece of work will require a brand-new project QA lead with at least three years of leading or supervising experience in the gaming QA field. They also prefer it be in the game as a service market.

This is about as much as we have in terms of the studio’s future. It might be worth noting that before the likes of the Horizon series, Guerrilla made a name for itself with its Killzone franchise, which they made until 2013. Considering they’re a first-party PlayStation Studios team, and Sony has expressed interest in expanding its multiplayer selection, this could be their first step to it.

Kojima Productions Is Hiring For A New Project

Kojima Productions

Kojima Productions is in the process of hiring some new people to join its ranks. Coming off last year’s mixed bag that was Death Stranding, this job posting also confirmed that the studio is working on another project and is in need of new talent.

The studio’s career page lists over 25 Tokyo-based career paths including game programmer, sound designer, animator, writer, localization specialist, and more. At this stage, it isn’t clear what this project is.

Some of the openings, though, do give hints that it could be include multiplayer and mechs. Naturally, this entire thing could be a wild ride, as this is Hideo Kojima spearheading this, after all.

Second Dinner is Working on a Marvel Game

Second Dinner

Last year, Blizzard saw a series of their developers leaving the studio. Some recently founded a new studio called Second Dinner and fans have been given information about its future. The company has kept their initial project under lock and key. However, they opened up just a bit to mention the realm it will take place in.

Following the announcement that they have been funded, they also may have mentioned that they’re partnering with Marvel for Second Dinner’s first game on their plate. Other than that, the game is pretty mysterious. They are also looking for new staff members to help make the game the best it could be without compromising.

Second Dinner

As for the company who has funded the newly founded developer, it was a Chinese company under the name of NetEase. NetEase has fully funded them with upwards of $30 million to put towards this Marvel project. You may have heard of NetEase as they are also the co-developer behind the mobile game; Diablo Immortals.

What do you think? Are you interested what Second Dinner will have to serve us in the future?
