Demon Slayer – Hinokami Kepputan Gameplay Emerges Online

Demon Slayer - Hinokami Kepputan

Gameplay of CyberConnect2‘s arena brawler adaptation of Demon Slayer, Demon Slayer – Hinokami Kepputan, has seen the light of day on the internet. The footage is exactly as expected from CyberConnect2, which has made several other fighting games based on popular anime.

Most notably, this game seems to seeth with similarities to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm, which was also a project of the studio.

There isn’t a concrete release date for Demon Slayer – Hinokami Kepputan, but it is supposed to hit the Japanese market sometime this year across most major current and next-gen platforms, so we can probably expect a North American release a few months after that.

New .hack Installment In Development

You know, this is the only RPG franchise I didn't try in the PS2 era, so maybe I'll give the new entry a shot.

As reported by Andriasang , Famitsu has confirmed that a new .hack title is in development.

We don't have the full title – it's listed in the magazine under the placeholder name, ".hack" – and both platforms and a release date have yet to be announced. Still, some early screenshots are apparently pretty impressive, and CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama says those screens were all pics of real-time action. In contrast to .hack//G.U. and .hack//Link , the team is bypassing the heavy anime style for "more photo realism."

The screens also seem to portray Haseyo, the main character of .hack//GU . It's a little confusing, though; when asked if the character was indeed "that Haseyo," Matsuyama said, "I can't say yet." …well, okay. Lastly, the game and the upcoming movie may be related, as the game is set in 2025, one year after the events of the film. That movie will be in Japanese theaters on January 21. …chances are, it won't come here.

But we're hoping the new .hack game does. Stay tuned for more info.

CyberConnect2 Reveals Early Details For Asura’s Wrath

Although that insane debut video at TGS 2010 turned a lot of heads, details were few and far between.

But at least we get some baseline information from developer CyberConnect2; those details were found in Famitsu (as cited by Play.tm ), and they're sort of encouraging. Firstly, the team won't be using Capcom's internal MT Framework engine; instead, they've opted for the popular Unreal 3 engine. Secondly, there will be no online multiplayer (either competitive or co-op) and they don't plan to add it via DLC at a future date. We've seen this same approach from Platinum Games with their new project Vanquish ; it's an effort to focus on the single-player campaign, which we certainly appreciate in this day and age. Thirdly, they say there will be a "high barrier to entry," which translates to a high learning curve in our minds. Fourthly and lastly: CyberConnect2 quite simply "wants to push the boundaries of traditional action games." Yeah, well, that much was obvious when viewing the trailer. So it's too early to have a release date just yet but so far, Asura's Wrath is shaping up to be a very hot title.

Perhaps "action/brawler" would be an apt description of the game. If so, the whole thing should be a total blast.
