Although that insane debut video at TGS 2010 turned a lot of heads, details were few and far between.
But at least we get some baseline information from developer CyberConnect2; those details were found in Famitsu (as cited by Play.tm ), and they're sort of encouraging. Firstly, the team won't be using Capcom's internal MT Framework engine; instead, they've opted for the popular Unreal 3 engine. Secondly, there will be no online multiplayer (either competitive or co-op) and they don't plan to add it via DLC at a future date. We've seen this same approach from Platinum Games with their new project Vanquish ; it's an effort to focus on the single-player campaign, which we certainly appreciate in this day and age. Thirdly, they say there will be a "high barrier to entry," which translates to a high learning curve in our minds. Fourthly and lastly: CyberConnect2 quite simply "wants to push the boundaries of traditional action games." Yeah, well, that much was obvious when viewing the trailer. So it's too early to have a release date just yet but so far, Asura's Wrath is shaping up to be a very hot title.
Perhaps "action/brawler" would be an apt description of the game. If so, the whole thing should be a total blast.
