Red Dead Online Goes Standalone Next Month

Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online is hitting the digital stores as a standalone title after two years on the market as its multiplayer component to Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar said Tuesday that starting December 1, new players can skip purchasing RDR 2’s single-player campaign if all they want to do is hook up with their friends in the old west.

It isn’t limited to versions, either, so, if you’re a PS4 owner, you can snag yourself a copy. The caveat is you will need a PS Plus membership to play it. You can also play it on PS5 through backwards compatibility, if you so choose, too.

If you aren’t sold on the idea, though, the studio did give a tantalizing introductory price of $4.99 until February 2021. After that, it’ll skyrocket to a modest $19.99.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, Red Dead Online will take a sizable 123 gigs of space.

Red Dead Online Brings The Fright In Halloween Pass

Red Dead Online

Halloween is upon us and Rockstar is getting into the spirit of things. Red Dead Online has launched a Halloween Pass complete with spooky unlockables.

Purchased using gold bars, the Halloween Pass is a seasonal upgrade that spans 20 ranks and some nifty rewards. Masks for your horse or bison are included alongside the chilling Zavala Machete. You can also nab yourself a Halloween-themed gothic bar for your Moonshine Bar.

As a part of the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club, though, players get extra rewards, such as the Phantom Buck Horse Mask and a spooky advanced camera filter. Members also get extra scratch and coupons, ammo parcels, and more.

The pass released today and you can get it for yourself right now until November 16.

Recent Red Dead Online Patch Breaks The Game

Red Dead Online

Following the outcry from disgruntled Red Dead Online players and a July patch, it seems Rockstar is trying to keep on top of things but it’s not working out so well.

The latest title patch caused quite a stir in the community as it messed up the game and caused various problematic glitches. Players don’t spawn, neither do animals, NPCs, or even freaking trains until it’s too late.

Some are even reporting they can’t shoot properly, which is kind of important in a game like Red Dead Online. There are also overall connection issues, too.

Needless to say, this caused an outpour of fans taking to Twitter to showcase the problems and contact Rockstar’s support. Turns out, of course, it’s now aware of the problems plaguing the online mode and promises they will be fixed.

What do you think? Have you noticed any major glitches? Tell us below!

Yeehaw: New Red Dead Online Update Coming Next Week

Red Dead Online

Rockstar Games finally realized it’s been ignoring its Red Dead Online audience. Per a recent press release, the game dev announced a “massive” update to its seldomly updated online Wild West experience.

The update will feature a brand-new Frontier Pursuit, alongside an Outlaw Pass, and role. They also promised some other features that were suggested by their community. It’s hard to say if this is just to look good or if they genuinely felt like coming back to the Wild West.

Red Dead Online users began getting skeptical of Rockstar’s devotion to keeping content flowing after more than six months passed by without any new content. With no word of any update, users took to its servers to protest by dressing as clowns earlier this month. Sure enough, it seemed to work, so good on them.

The new update will be included this Tuesday (July 28).

What do you think? Was this all a plan from Rockstar to bring more attention? Do you think they don’t care about Red Dead Online that much? Tell us below!

Red Dead Online is Rolling Out This Week

Red Dead Online

Chances are there are quite a few of you out there that have spent the last month in shootouts, horse riding, and generally living the cowboy life. Red Dead Redemption 2 has had very high praise since its release (we gave it a 10!) and fans have been eagerly awaiting the online portion of the game. Announced earlier today by Rockstar, it won’t be much longer until you can ride into the world of Red Dead Online.

Rockstar is slowly rolling out the beta this week. It seems that Rockstar is rolling things out slowly so they don’t overload the server. Which is probably a good idea based on what we have seen before with other games as well as GTA Online.

  • The beta starts tomorrow, Tuesday November 27th, for owners of the ultimate edition of the game.
  • Wednesday invites all the people that started playing the game on day one.
  • Thursday will open up for people that played between October 26th to the 29th.
  • And finally on Friday the floodgates open to all players.

We don’t know much about Red Dead Online besides the little snippet Rockstar gave us:

With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.

Explore the world solo or with friends. Form or join a Posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your Camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole Posses in open world challenges and much more.

Keep an eye out for the new online option on your screen this week. Hopefully Red Dead Online does half as well as the monstrosity that is GTA Online. It should be a rootin tootin time for sure either way!

Are you excited? Do you plan on joining the beta? Let us know how it goes!
