Project Athia: A Mysterious Game for the PS5

Project Athia

While there were quite a few showstoppers at Sony’s The Future of Gaming event, there were also a few games that were much more mysterious. Project Athia is one of the games that falls heavily into the category of teaser. The short trailer only gave a little bit of cinematic story flavor with some gameplay. Even the name Project Athia is just a working title and will likely change later.

This PS5 game is being developed by Luminous Productions under the Square Enix umbrella. Luminous Productions was founded couple years ago and is using the Luminous Engine. Which is an internal engine Square has been using for quite some time in many other games. Thisw will be the first game by the studio.

It’s still early in development so there’s not much else known about Project Athia. No release date or anything as of yet. So don’t hold your breath on seeing this in the wild anytime soon. But, they have teased the game and promise to take advantage of the PS5 technology.

Project Athia is the culmination of our philosophy here at Luminous Productions to create completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuse together the latest technologies with art. With PS5, our vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.

Keep an eye out for more news for Project Athia.

Mafia: Trilogy Teased, Full Announcement Next Week

Mafia Trilogy

It’s official, fellas. 2K Games’ Mafia franchise is coming back in the form of Mafia: Trilogy. In the coming days before its reveal, fans were… confused. Wouldn’t you be, though? The Mafia franchise’s official Twitter, which was last active back in 2018 suddenly popped back up and started tweeting again. Of course, people knew this meant something was coming.

Not much is revealed, it’s only a 30-second teaser mostly showing Vito Scaletta and Lincoln Clay. The trailer mostly ran off of the concept of family. Vito, who was the protagonist of Mafia II, went on a monologue about killing for 10 years for his family. Lincoln, on the other hand, referred to family as not “who you’re born with, it’s who you die for.”

Mafia Trilogy

There will be a proper announcement on May 19 at 12 PM EST. It won’t just be a remaster for the original Mafia title, but rather a full-on remake. Images were grabbed by keen users who saw Microsoft accidentally launched the sales page early (and quickly removed it). Mafia: Trilogy will supposedly release on August 28.

What do you think? Are you excited to see the Mafia franchise come back after its messy last entry?

Project Méliès: A New Game From the Creators of Layers of Fear and Observer

Project Méliès

Bloober Team are developers based in Poland that have been around since 2008. And while they have dabbled in a few different genres, they may have found their niche with their two of their most recent games which are horror; Layers of Fear and Observer. Their newest project, dubbed Project Méliès, looks to continue what has worked so well for them so far.

Posted just yesterday, the teaser is very brief but definitely has the horror game vibe. Throw in the fact Bloober Team is joining forces with Friday the 13th publisher, Gun Media, and this could shape up to be very promising.

If the teaser reminds you of one of those old silent movies there is a reason for that. George Méliès pioneered some (at the time) amazing early movie effects and he was an artist as well. Although he apparently destroyed a lot of his own work. It seems like he may be the inspiration for this game. Besides the fact that they are using his name. You’ll probably recognize the moon with the ship in its eye.

Goerge Méliès

This could be interesting.

Layers of Fear was a surreal experience that plays games with your head and puts you in the shoes of a mad artist. Observer took you to the not so distant future and gave a taste of cyberpunk horror with one of the best created worlds in the genre. Both games used psychological horror to great effect. Hopefully they can keep up the good work with this newest game.

Are you looking forward to Project Méliès? Did you play Layers of Fear or Observer?

Ubisoft Releases Far Cry 5 Teaser, Full Release Info To Come Very Soon

Far Cry has been a pretty successful series for Ubisoft and it doesn’t look like they are going to stop any time soon. We’ve known that there would probably be a Far Cry 5 in the future. That was confirmed last week. And this week, the hype train seems to be gathering steam.

Last week, Ubisoft announced Far Cry 5 by posting a tweet with the following picture of the title that raised more than a few questions.

What time is it set in? Where does the game take place? Does the red, white, and blue mean it’s in America?

Rumors were floating around not too long ago that Far Cry 5 was to be a western. Which would put in direct conflict with Red Dead Redemption 2. That was eventually shot down however, so the question remained, what do we know about Far Cry 5. Not a whole lot.

That changed earlier today though as Ubisoft released a series of 4 live action teasers that answer at least a few questions.

Here’s the teasers put together. It’s actually pretty creepy. Serene country side broken by violence.
