PR: Explore New Caledonia With Awaceb in Second Episode of Tchia Behind-the-Scenes Mini-Series

LONDON (Jan. 9, 2023) – Developer Awaceb and publisher Kepler Interactive today invite you to take a nature walk across the gorgeous archipelago that inspired the upcoming tropical adventure Tchia in the second episode of its behind-the-scenes video mini-series. With the studio’s founders as your guides, discover the beautiful vistas, plant life, animals and culture of the Pacific island of New Caledonia, all of which inspired Tchia’s original world: https://youtu.be/hzgkozNYx5I

Awaceb, founded by two childhood friends from New Caledonia, is a small, nine-person Montreal-based studio creating a big adventure. Tchia draws inspiration from the homeland and firsthand experiences of these two friends, evoking the island nation’s customs, culture and gorgeous landscapes to create a powerful, fantastical island adventure. With a unique soundtrack and a cast of characters brought to life by talent from New Caledonia, Tchia is a true love letter to the team’s home.

Tchia is an open-world sandbox that invites players to jump into the adventure of a lifetime. Players can explore the ocean depths or become one with nature, with the game’s unique soul-jumping mechanic allowing them to take control of over 30 animals and hundreds of objects, turning the environment into the ultimate exploration tool.

Not everything is calm and relaxing in Tchia. The island the game’s heroine, Tchia, calls home has been invaded by strange fabric creatures called the Maano, who, under the orders of the archipelago’s evil ruler, have abducted her father. Players will have to use everything at their disposal to take them out. In between the action, players can rest, take a break and jam with a fully playable ukulele.

Tchia is set to release in Spring 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. For more information, visit https://www.awaceb.com/tchia.

Marvel’s Avengers To Show Gameplay At SDCC

Marvel's Avengers

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are planning to showcase more gameplay for their upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game at SDCC. In a press release by Square Enix, they announced that the Marvel-focused game will have some gameplay to show con attendees at San Diago Comic-Con. But, this event will be exclusive to said con attendees.

New information about the game will come to light to fans in the common livestream but it won’t show the gameplay footage which may bum some people out. This is especially true for those who want to know what this Marvel-Square Enix collaboration will look like since all we have is a trailer with character designs that some saw as somewhat janky.

This kind of exclusivity isn’t new to the Comic-Con event, but Square has come under fire from some people for the janky character designs. So, feasibly they would want to showcase how the game looks as soon as possible to worried fans.

Here is the description on Square’s press release.

Join Shaun Escayg, Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics, and the performance cast of Marvel’s Avengers for a special presentation that will include new information and the first public gameplay reveal for Hall H attendees only.

Marvel’s Avengers is coming out May 15, 2020.

Bridge Constructor Portal Gets A Physical Release Date

Bridge Constructor Portal

As we previously reportaled on, Bridge Constructor Portal is a fairly unique take on the bridge construction genre. Not only do we have the tried and true physic-based formula that makes this genre of game so damn addicting, we also have GLaDOS. Cause like, why the hell not? Can’t go wrong with GLaDOS… you know, at least until she decides to kill you with toxins, or throw you into a pit of fire, or lie to your face about a cake that may or may not even exist. Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

You’ll be able to pick up a physical copy of Bridge Constructor Portal on August 28th. That’s next week, in case you don’t know how calendars work. Though be careful, human. Working for Aperture Science isn’t going to be easy. Just because there are 60 test chambers to play through, doesn’t mean you’re going to be paid overtime. In fact, the odds of you being paid at all are pretty damn slim. Hell, I’d even wager that there is a higher chance of you being turned into a potato. Or a cake. Whichever floats your spaaaceship I guess.

You can preorder Bridge Constructor Portal on Amazon.

Horizon Zero Dawn Sells 2.6 Million and Announces DLC

Horizon Zero Dawn has done really well for itself. It lived up to expectations and created a really cool world filled with robotic dinosaurs and really well done story along with some great combat. And it is a beautiful game as well. It’s definitely one of the best exclusives to come out so far on the PS4. And I’d even be willing to say that Horizon will influence some cool possibilities for future open world games.

And just to punctuate how well it's done, Gamasutra released a press release a few days ago talking about how well it's done. The release states that Horizon has sold over 2.6 million units. Which is pretty impressive since it is an exclusive and was just released in February.

As if that isn’t good enough news, Guerrilla Managing Director Hermen Hulst spoke about future DLC for Horizon. Albeit without much in the way of details.

While that doesn’t really tell us a whole lot, it does tell us that they are working on some additional content for the game. Which, if you ask most that played, is really awesome. When Horizon released, it didn’t come with a season pass or announce any future additions to the game or even include multiplayer. So it was really up in the air if we were going to be getting more of Aloy and her world. Looks like that’s not the case anymore. What we are actually getting though, remains to be seen.

The world of Horizon is pretty full and lively. It wasn’t perfect, but it was memorable and the characters were pretty interesting. I think they could go several directions with the DLC content. Especially given the pretty mind blowing twist that you get to later in the game.

What would you want to see in some additional Horizon Zero Dawn content? How about an expansion on the past and how Aloy’s world came to be? Or maybe just explore more of the society that lives there now? What about beyond the boundaries of the map? Let’s hope we hear some more news soon.
