We all figured Quantic Dream would be on board for PlayStation 4 development, especially after they showed off some amazing tech during the PlayStation Meeting last month.
But now we're hearing a little more about the new project. In speaking to GameSpot , Quantic Dream founder David Cage has revealed that work on their new PS4 project "is already well under way."
As you might expect, the next-generation title will maintain the studio's emphasis on a compelling story. Cage also says it's "incredibly exciting" and it's "one of the strongest concepts" his team has ever had. That's pretty impressive considering that the concepts in Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls aren't exactly uninteresting. And because of QD's relationship with Sony, they've had PS4 development kits for a while. Said Cage:
"Because of our relationship with Sony we had access to development kits on PlayStation 4 very early on, we started developing [Beyond's] engine on PlayStation 4 with crazy features that were usually reserved to CG films. We were implementing them on PlayStation 4 thinking that it would already be a challenge, which it was, but at the same time we realised that some of these features could be implemented on PlayStation 3."
As for what you saw on the stage during the PlayStation Meeting, Cage said that's the engine being used for the PS4 project. The old man on display wasn't one of the characters, but that was indeed the technology they plan to use. Yeah, well, bring it on!
And also in a recent Eurogamer interview when asked about the difference between working with the PS4 architecture over the PS3's, studio big shot Guillaume de Fondaumiere said: "Incomparable. Very easy." "Weâll be able to express ourselves in a more straightforward way. So itâs perfect, itâs excellent."
As long as this new project has the same quality as the Heavy Rain masterpiece, you can count me in.
I absolutely loved Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls is easily among my most-anticipated games this year (along with The Last of Us). So bring it on, Quantic Dream! Really looking forward to seeing more about this new game.
ill put my bets on beyond two souls, especially considering they really have not shown much of it, and its releasing in october a month before the ps4 is due!
whatever it is, i really hope they do a game based on the kara tech demo.
androids have always been a big passion of mine, the ideas of what it means to be human, and really what happens when robots develop emotions.
one reason why i was so excited for bionic domain, it was suppose to have such a strong story and explore those themes, but dident really.
if theres one developer out there that will do the themes justice its quantic dream!
I have a lot of respect for Quantic Dream and they earned it in a short amount of time. They could convince me to buy a PS4 earlier than I had planned. I can't wait to play Beyond: Two Souls and I'm eager to see what their project for the PS4 will be.
Well I don't think anyone is surprised…
But! Anything made by them = D1P!
