Sony has heard the outcry of negative feedback and has backpedaled its plan to require PC users link their PSN to continue playing Helldivers 2. The plan, while generally in the works since launch, was removed due to technical issues and then suddenly reintroduced, leading to a wave of negative response.
PlayStation announced on Twitter that it’s no longer requiring the user link to PSN, claiming it’s “still learning what is best for PC players.” For context, the decision led to Steam reviews absolutely tanking, going from “Very Positive” to “Overwhelmingly Negative.”
Shoddy tactics like slyly changing wording and pulling the game from sale in regions with PSN after the announcement rather than safeguarding it from those regions to begin with were understandably not well-liked decisions.
Helldivers fans — we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.
We’re still…
