Out with the old, in with the new.
On May 31, online support for Gran Turismo 5 will end. But to celebrate that "death," developer Polyphony Digital will host a special online event that will benefit Gran Turismo 6 owners.
As revealed at GTPlanet , participating in the GT5 "Online Event Finale" will net players five free vehicles for GT6: Abarth Grande Punto '09, Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy '11, Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08, Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance '12 and Subaru S206 NBR Challenge Package '12. The event consists of two stages; the first has a focus on the Mazda Roadster Touring Car '11 and Top Gear Test Track, and the second involves the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsports '11 and the demanding Nurburgring 24h.
Now, how's about news of GT7, Yamauchi?
Related Game(s): Gran Turismo 5 , Gran Turismo 6
Gran Turismo 5 and 6 are 1080p and 60 fps on the Playstation 3.
It's laughable that it took the Forza series 3 years and a new console to meet that same benchmark.
I feel like I'm going to be flabbergasted when the first trailers for GT 7 start rolling out.
JROD, we have to keep in mind that 1080p/60fps last generation and this generation is different.
GT6 may be able to run 1440X1080p/60 fps, but it runs much less polys than the next gen Forza. When people think about next gen upgrade, I don't think most realize it's an exponential upgrade, not linear. To continue or upgrade running in 1080p/60fps, while trying to look amazing enough for the jump to the PS4 generation isn't easy. That's why DriveClub, Infamous, and maybe even The Order runs at 30fps.
Does this mean I have no faith in PD tho? Nonesense. PD is the most underrated developer there is. The only people that realize the magic under PD is Digital Foundry. All this next gen talk about global illumination, HDR, and lighting goodness, PD has already achieved on the PS3. All the talk about highly detailed cars with over 200k polys, PD has done since 2007. If you don't believe me, look at the poly count for the cars in GT5p, and even in the game Forza 4 in 2011, which were pushed by PD's standard. They run a technique called Adaptive Tesselation which isn't even in current gen gaming yet, and only seen in PC so far.
Of course, Project Cars IZ the AWESOMENEZ racing game of all time tho. lol
be careful with claiming exponential growth because that isn't necessarily true. For example, if the PS3 pushes 500 TFlops where the PS4 pushes 1840 Tflops, that is on order of just over 3x the performance of the prior gen.
To be exponential, we'd typically be talking 500 squared, or 500 x 500, at the least. For PS4 to have been exponentially more powerful than PS3 in this regard it's flops would need to clock in around 250,000 Tflops.
yah, not even close 😉

That an evil way to make people buy the next game.
It is indeed.
Are you serious World?
i like the concept of giving loyal fans something extra for getting the next instalment of the game. i do think that it was too early to release the gt6. it shouldve been on ps4. didnt but gt6 because i didnt think i needed to buy it.
on a side note, remember the ps4 share feature where you record the last 15 mins of gameplay? i loved that feature because i never know when ill do something notable in bf4. well, pressed the share button and found out it isnt there anymore after patch 1.7. it was a feature sony talked about too but now, i dont think ill be using share feature much now.
It wasn't really too soon to release GT 6.
Each PlayStation console has two GT games to go along with it, might as well keep up the tradition.
Sux.
The article is incomplete because there is no mention that people have until June to redeem those cars or loose them. In other words, you must buy GT6 in june at most.
Screw you Sony. I'm not supporting this business tactics. Take my GT5 offline but don't expect me to buy the next game and if I do, I'll make sure it is a second hand copy.
Sorry but you're too touchy in this matter. They simply could offer nothing and you'd think the same.
I guess a lot of you guys have no idea how limited GT servers are. Its all based in Japan in PD's own building. It's not like EA where resources are available globally.
It may seem harsh to some of you, but as limited as the servers are, it makes more sense to support the latest titles. They're trying to continually support GT5 with servers and seasonal events, whilst trying to keep GT6 up to date and deliver what they promise through updates. They're also working on the next GT for PS4 co-currently.
It's not like GT6 is hundreds of dollars. It's pretty cheap to upgrade without needing to buy another console. We got a good 3 plus years out of GT5 for a $60 game. Its only natural to move on to the next title, and that next title includes everything you've bought in GT5 as DLC. If you're not a fan of it, then just don't bother buying it. It's useless complaining about the little things without really thinking what's offered to you is justifiable.
If you can't bother spending $60> every three years or so for title, then gaming is the wrong hobby for you, especially this generation and players who pay monthly to play it such as the like of FFXIV.
Daus, if you are happy to let Sony screw your game after 3 years, just to "entice" to buy the new game, fine.
To this day I can still play the first Gears of War online and it was released in 2006. That's 8 years and still going strong. Epic, released 3 more Gears of War games after and not once they dropped the online gaming part for any of their games. 8 Years! 8 Years and counting!!
Same thing with Halo 3 (old game, 2007) more games in the series after ward. You can still play online 7 years and counting after. 7 Years! 7 Years and counting!!
I could go on but I think the point has been made. Don't worry about my finances they are fine, I can afford several full priced games each year.
I have a problem with this "forced upgrading tactics". They released a new game? Perfect! great for the fans. It bombs sales wise? Lets "entice" the fans, lets cripple the online part so they must buy the new game to play online.
If Sony's competition can support not only the last game but even the 3 previous games in the series I don't see how Sony can't.

Nissan Fairladys are pretty hot… Not good up against Lambos and the like but they are very fun to drive.
