Ben-DutkaIt fell off the radar for a while and now, it appears Devil's Third is getting a face-lift.
The developer showed off a newly redesigned logo on Facebook , and told us the formerly anticipated game would be reintroduced "later this year."
In development at Valhalla Games, Devil's Third was supposed to be an over-the-top action game for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Now, however, there's a good chance the team is reworking it for next-gen consoles. Valhalla Games was created by former Tecmo boss Tomonobu Itagaki of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive fame, and their first game was announced back in 2010.
However, they had signed on with THQ, which went belly-up in 2012. Since that time, it has been unclear what would happen to Devil's Third , as Itagaki reclaimed the rights to the project after the THQ ordeal. Later last year, he said the game was "80 percent complete" and on track for a 2014 release but now, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
Well, it's toast if it shows up for last gen hardware at this point. Ain't nobody gonna be interested.
Persona 5 is all like, "hi" right about now.
That's specialty, Japanese RPG with an established base. New IP over the top action game? Not so much.

You have a point there… I mean, Bayonetta and DMC were never massive sellers despite pulling down impressive review scores. Most people aren't just chucking out their PS3/360, though, and it could make a name for itself if it strikes during a drought. Maybe. Probably not.
I'm interested, damnit. But it probably will be a new-gen game anyway.
I have always enjoyed Itagaki's games. I am looking forward to this game.
i'd still want to see more about this game like gameplay and story and that kind stuff but yeah i need to see more

shame what happened to this game.
Itagaki has always had such a unique quirky way of doing things and thats always shown in his creations.
i really, really, REALLY want this to work because ive always felt that the gun sword fighting combination is just one of the greats that really has not been done justice yet!
theres some decent games out there, most recently the remake of shadow warrior, or even bugthesdas WET, but theres so much more that can be done with the series!
ninja gaidens always been an amazingly complex well designed game with such a deep combat system so im really hoping to see that applied to this, and maybe we can finally have that action hellbent typical hollywood RED inspired game weve all been dreaming of!
