Quantic Dream’s David Cage Will Receive The Legion Of Honour

Video games have come a long way.

Quantic Dream boss and industry visionary David Cage will be the first video game developer to receive the Legion of Honour , France's most prestigious decoration.

The illustrious award will be presented by Fleur Pellerin, French Minister Delegate with responsibility for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy. …how the hell do you fit all that on a business card? Anyway, Cage is well known for producing highly dramatic, narrative-driven games, which have been dubbed "interactive dramas." Heavy Rain was a huge success for both Quantic Dream and Sony, and last year's Beyond: Two Souls , while falling a little shy of lofty expectations, was another worthy achievement.

Cage is the first developer to get the Legion of Honour, although France has paid homage to other industry greats (Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Ubisoft's Michel Ancel, for instance) with the Order of Arts and Letters.

Awesome, he deserves it for pushing things forward. Can't wait to get a trickle of info for a PS4 title.

Incidentally, did anyone see Ellen Page come out of the closet? Very moving.

Read it on NeoGAF. It's amazing how many people confuse Ellen Page for Ellen Degeneres.

Moving? I mean didn't everyone already know she was gay?

I meant to see a good performer in an accepting industry be so damn nervous up there bearing her soul because she hasn't felt comfortable to admit it to anyone yet. Those moments of humanity are something rare in this age where people have a press release or try to act all cool.

I see your point. I just found it to be such an obvious thing I didn't think she had to "confess" to it.

I imagine it would've been hard for her to admit.

But it can only help her career now, knowing Hollywood.

To admit the obvious? Come on now…it's not like she lives in central Arkansas or that the news would blindside anyone.

Good on him. Both Heavy Rain and Beyond were absolutely phenomenal and I can't wait to see what he's cooking up for his next project. Truly deserved.
