The PlayStation Network hasn't been running perfectly smoothly due to increased holiday traffic. But Sony has apologized.
Many times over, in fact.
According to Dual Shockers , the Ask PlayStation Twitter page has been apologizing left and right to a great many users affected by the PSN's "significant latency issues."
It almost seems like they apologized to absolutely everyone who complained of experiencing problems with the Network. These issues persist and Sony continues to work on the problem but in the meantime, it's nice to know they actually care. Of course, those apologies aren't coming with a time frame as to when the issues will be resolved, but our guess is that the holiday traffic needs to ease up first. Best time to try again? January 2 would be our bet.
Or, just try a single-player game. 🙂
Everyone had problems over the holidays. I don't see this as a big deal. Also, it's very important to remember that Sony has the hottest selling console on the planet. I bet they are over 3 million sold right now. That's a lot of gamers! Especially a lot of gamers opening their new family member on Christmas. Very classy of Sony to say the least. Usually you see zero apology.
Not saying you didn't but "everyone" had a problem? I gamed all day and didn't have one problem, so there goes that theory.
No, I meant the major online services had issues. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Steam were all experiencing problems. I didn't experience any PSN issues myself.
Shouldn't they be prepared for this? If they produced 2 million PS4s and sold 2 million, shouldn't they be prepared for 2 million users going online?
They didn't expect this high of demand though, they got completely blind sided by this. And it definitely shows.
One typically scale online services for the estimated average usage, not the peaks. It would be too expensive.
It's cheaper to apologize.
An extra 2 or 3 million consoles doesn't sound like much when there are 80 million PS3 floating around out there. Also, apologies are one thing but when a service is paid for there should be something written by Sony with what they believe is acceptable in terms of outages, maintenance or other issues in a given month or quarter before time extensions or other benefits are provided as compensation.
But there is not 80 million PS3s floating around. A good chunk of those numbers are from people replacing old or broken PS3s. Then there are people with mutilate brands of consoles not using the ones they have. Just because they have sold 80 million doesn't mean there are 80 million different people using a PS3.
Wondered why that movie trailer was stopping every 15 seconds. Each time my PS4 made a funny noise and I thought the dang thing would kick off and die.
People are paying now so ya gotta step it up Sony!
Agreed.
Also, I'm trying to give away a 7 day PSN trial in the forums. Lol I guess these things are a dime a dozen, no takers.
I'll take it. >.>
Here ya go 67HP G9NL FD5B
It appears the worst is behind us. I only had issues one night and it didn't matter because I was playing AC4.
I understand we are paying for it now, and it should be running smoothly, however this is part of technology. We are relying on a service that will never be 100%. Every server has problems and with that said, I think I can afford .16 cents it cost me for it to be down. It's only an inconvenience when we need it. Of course we don't complain about the money we are spending on it when we simply are not using it.
I only paid 9 cents a day LOL. I am playing a little more online nowadays.
Hopefully these issues can be ironed out so I can continue to shake my head at the sexism, racism and bigotry of young men while the people streaming videos just shake it off. Wonders never cease when you type "girl" in your video stream title thread; it always brings in the catcalls from yokels who have no idea how to talk to women.
The only problem i had was trying to access the store on the ps3 but after 5 minutes it was back to normal.
I never noticed a thing.
Strange.
The only time I had any problems was during the Black Friday weekend, trying to input my $29.99 1 year PS+ code deal, along with some game codes.
But I quickly found a workaround for that, just went into my own PS3's "account management", then down to "redeem codes", & every single code worked the 1st time out for me after that.

Forget over the holidays, it's been way slower ever since they switched to the new "snazzier" format.
I'd rather have "boring" looking than slow.
sigh.
one day companies will stop trying to compete with others by offering inferior products, but sadly that day has not yet come.
