If you've already conquered most of what Gran Turismo 6 can throw at you, get ready for possibly the toughest challenge yet. Got the chops?
Update 1.02 is here and as revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , this hefty 1.2GB update adds the Red Bull X Challenge and two new Red Bull cars. The new event is part of a collaboration with Infiniti Red Bull Racing that includes 2013 Formula 1 Racing Champion Sebastian Vettel. He's on hand to help you out, if necessary.
The Red Bull Racing Kart and Red Bull X2014 Junior will be in dealerships after the update, while the Red Bull X2014 Standard and Fan cars should join them at a later date. All the new Red Bull X2014 cars have been designed for GT6 in conjunction with Infiniti Red Bull Racing's legendary Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey. Said Polyphony Digital boss and GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi:
"We are very grateful to Adrian Newey, Sebastian Vettel, and Infiniti Red Bull Racing for providing this special gift for Gran Turismo fans. To be taught how to drive downforce cars by the best racing driver in the world is very special, and the new Red Bull X2014 cars are another exciting addition to Gran Turismo 6. This is the latest update for the game, and there are more to come."
Vettel added that he's been playing Gran Turismo since he was 12 years old, so being able to appear as a mentor in the game is pretty great. And by the way, remember when I always said that real racers appreciate this series? Yeah, this is sort of what I mean.

Love the increased payouts for races and the return of the login bonus. I'm just getting to the point where I could use some extra money to buy at least one fairly expensive car to compete in the higher level Special series events.
As far as those X2014's, After spending literally days working on getting gold on the Vettel challenges in GT5, I don't care if I never see another one of those things again as long as I live. I'll give the kart a try though, they're actually quite a bit of fun in this game.
They are there, but at least you won't need to gold it for the platinum trophy.
Personally, it's quiet an experience and something you can't try anywhere else. I like them RedBull.
I absolutely love the X2014 Junior, that car is a blast to drive. I guess the other two events with the two more powerful versions of the X2014 aren't coming until later.
I like the way they've done it, giving you a way to get used to the handling, and later on the power. And I love the way there aren't any trophies associated with it 🙂
Yesss. You got to love the downshifts. Car sounds great!
Also, the event is great. It's integrated to the career, and not special events, so you can repeat it for a lot of cash, since the pay is huge.

After all the complaints, I'm surprised the increased payouts (up to 170%), huge seasonal credit bonus (up to 6 million), and login incentives (up to 200% credit increase) are not being talked about here.
It wasn't even that bad before, but now, there's absolutely no reason to be worrying about the affect of microtransaction in this game.
This is only the beginning of great things to come.

[Consecutive Login Bonus]
When you login online for consecutive days, a bonus to all credits awards will be added for each consecutive day: 110% for the 1st day, 130% for the 2nd day, 140% for the 3rd day and so on, until you will receive 200% bonus on the 5th day. Be sure to login every day to earn more credits!
[Credits earned in Career Mode increased]
The amount of credits earned in Career Mode have been increased. Rewards for Novice Class races have been raised to approximately 110%, for National B Class up to approx. 130%, for National A Class to approx. 140%, for International B Class to approx. 150%, for International A Class to approx. 160%, and for Super Class they have been raised to approximately 170%. This may give good incentive to go back and try some races youâve already cleared!
[Bonus Events within Seasonal Events]
From 20 December 2013 3:00AM GMT to 17 January 2014 3:00AM GMT the Seasonal Events will host a special bonus event. If you obtain a Gold award in all events, the credits reward will add up to 3,000,000 credits, and combined with the Consecutive Login Bonus, this can multiply to a maximum 6,000,000 credits!
Furthermore, a second bonus event is planned to be held from 2 January 2014 3:00AM GMT to 30 January 2014 3:00AM. Again, this event will allow you to win up to 6,000,000 credits when combined with the Consecutive Login Bonus, so if you participate in both special events you could earn up to 12,000,000 credits!
Great job posting that info daus26…
This pretty much neutralizes the micro transactions from being anything else then "optional". 🙂
Bullcrap. No such alterations would ever have been made if people didn't complain; that was NOT planned. Furthermore, we're expected to go a MONTH OR LONGER, filled with constant playing, in order to get a maximum of 6 million credits?
Cars cost up to 20 million credits. One Red Bull car is 5 million.
It really doesn't matter what sort of logic you use, the math is unavoidable. Without the reward cars, you simply don't earn credits at a fraction of the rate as you once could. That's just a fact.
I'm not saying it's deplorable. I'm not saying the game isn't great. I'm saying this is the way things are, and microtransactions absolutely positively had an impact on this game.
Ben is right. Plus, there is that one money glitch. After that, it's all over for PD. I don't have to spend a single cent. Not that I will use the glitch.
Sorry if I offended anyone. I never said anything about the fact that our complaints may not have any affect or whatever. If you remember my posts, I encourage people to speak up, use the glitch, and actually glad you wrote your previously article.
I'm only mentioning this, because it's a pretty big deal to me that Sony and PD has responded with this, yet there's zero mention of it here. It's basically a big half part of the update. I know you like the game, and I never said I disagreed about the lack of prize cars. Personally, I'm able to go through the career just fine before, even with the lack of prize cars compared to previous GTs. The mission races, license tests, and goodwood festival actually gave great car prizes you could use for your career if you haven't notice.
Also, I don't use math. My logic is from my personal experience from the game and past GT, and having pretty much finished the game. Speaking of experience, the payouts increase are huge in the later events. Combined with the fact that you can double them, they're nearly a quadruple increase. I earned over 3 million yesterday after CASUAL playing (ZERO grinding).
Seriously?
And the glitch thing doesn't work anymore btw, Killa.

My mistake, I meant 2 million. I was finishing up the first two Vettel events, some mission races, missing stars in I.A. and one of the endurance race. I'm at 99% and have 3 or 4 "endurance" to go.
You don't need to wait for those "special" seasonals to rack up millions. Once I actually start grinding, 12 million will be easy, rather than waiting for those two events.

sweet sauce. though, I think I'm going to hold off for this one to come down in price.
When I look at Sony's GoW A that released earlier in March this year, now for only $10 it's hard for me to lay down $60 on a title that'll likely be dirt cheap in about the same length of time. The plus side about waiting is that all of these updates continue to release and optimize the core game. Heck, maybe they'll launch an XL edition in 9 months time.
now as for these horrendously long download and install waits for 35GB games, I do look forward to PS4's enhanced features here.
EDIT: I saw a random guy in a walmart-like store buying this. This must mean it's selling well now =p

35GBs AND THEN 9 separate patches!
There will be more than 9 separate patches lol.
Also, I wouldn't wait 9 months for an XL version. That's quiet deep into the "next" generation, unless you don't care about that.
But it is pretty awesome to have everything on disc though.
I was wondering what the update was especially regarding it's size. The more cars the merrier!
sorry, but vettel is a long way away from the best driver in the world!
in fact hes the perfect example of how far luck, and a amazing team can take you!
lets wait till next year once F1 cars become V6 turbos and then will see whos the wolrds best driver, and in fact whos the worlds best team.
im afraid luck for ze german is running out!
he's a freaking prodigy lol. You realize how young he is? how can you say luck after his consistency. Even in Top Gear, he ranked 1 on one of the reasonably priced car challenge.
no hes not, louis is and by quite a bit too!
hes just had some extreme luck, and one heck of a car under him!
take him out of red bull and put him with any other team and he wouldent be doing half as well as he is!
Team Kunimitsu!
certainly sounds gud but i won't be getting it till later next year if ever anytime soon kinda broke with the ps4 and stuff.
happy gaming =)
