Want A Metal Gear Rising Sequel?

Even though it was a spin-off and some die-hard fans of the franchise shunned it, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was still a blast.

Would you like to see a sequel? It seems Konami might be interested in producing another Rising , as indicated by a recent questionnaire . One question on the survey asks gamers what they'd like to see in a sequel, and there are plenty of options. You can say you'd like more stealth (which kinda defeats the purpose of this spin-off series, but whatever), more "human drama," or more humor.

This means Platinum Games might be considering a follow-up effort, which is good news. I wonder how well Revengeance sold. That may be the ultimate determining factor.

Metal Gear Rising was a blast. Those epic boss fights. Maybe a much deeper story in the sequel or a glimpse of backstory in his Jack The Ripper years. And again kudos to those who Platinumed it.

Platinuming that game was one of the most satisfying endeavours in my gaming history.

One thing for sure, if there is a sequel made by Platinum Games, the Platinum trophy will be just as hard, if not worse, to get.

I personally didn't like the way that they turned nearly everyone in that future into cyborgs, how the hell will Solid Snake ever put up a fight if he returns for an MGS sequel.

Kudos to you, hehe. When I saw the trophy list after beaten the game in hard mode, I knew it will take mad skills to platinumed it. And it's the type of trophy list that you will have fun collecting even though it's hard unlike other trophy lists.

And about Solid Snake. I think he can manage those cyborgs. He already defeated Gekkos and tough bosses in the past. Hehe. And almost defeated Vamp himself.

Yes, yes, yes. While I havent officially played the first one, I like having one of my preferred genres proliferate like something that proliferates fast =p

I don't have the first, but only due to circumstance, and I've researched it enough to know that A, I will buy it (new of course…) when the opportunity presents itself, and B, yes I'd like a sequel.

I have to agree. I'm a LONG TIME Metal Gear fan, since the MGS 1 demo disc on the pizza hut disc, but DAMN I love this game! Only Platinum could produce a quality fast paced game like this. Stoked they're considering a sequel.

Well I just went through the questionnaire. There were some interesting options. Some even giving you the option to select wanting a story set before Revengeance. The biggest problem I had with Revengeance was the story. It felt over crowded if anything they should have focused on the story with the child soldiers as that worked really well but felt diminished when the conflict with Armstrong came along, it was never spoke of again.

But the gameplay was fantastic and the game should be notorious for having a sword that can actually cut things to pieces. It sounds so basic but was such a technical benchmark.

I still see plenty of potential in having a story set between MGS2 – 4. Seeing how Raiden turned into the Ninja, meeting Big Mama and the overall objective to save Sunny for the Patriots. It's all there and I hope to see it one day. wouldn't it be fantastic to play as Raiden via the Metal Gear Solid gameplay at first then after the transformation we get the full blown Rising experience. It just makes so much sense to me.

"I wonder how well Revengeance sold."
According to vgchartz the global sales for this title is 1.22 mill, with 0.43 sold in Japan.

It's interesting to note that even when we keep Japan out of the equation the title sold *significantly* more on the PS3 than the X360.
That's something for the theorists to ponder about 😉

Personally I consider this to be yet another example of what a difference an established franchise name makes. MGS sits firmly in the conciousness of Playstation owners. Would be interesting to know what the sales numbers would have been without MGS in the title.

No pondering necessary. Metal Gear is one of the original PlayStation franchises. Never went to another platform until Rising, so of course there will be many more PlayStation fans who love the series.

Still, a lot less than MGS4, which sold nearly 6 million copies way back when there were like half as many PS3s out there in 2008.

I'm not sure. I didn't like this game as much as I thought I would. For the sake of being fair it might have something to do with how much I sucked at it. Still the story and acting and most of the characters were so terrible it took away from the gameplay experience which was the strong point.

Is there an an option to vote for a Vanquish 2?

I'd rather have Policenauts, Snatcher and Zone of the Enders sequels, in that order.
