US Retailer Lists Gran Turismo 6 For PS3

There has been some evidence recently that points toward a current-generation launch for Gran Turismo 6 .

Not long after Sony boss Michael Denny said during an interview that GT6 would launch on the PS3 later this year, GameSpot stumbles across a Newegg listing that says the same thing.

The US online retailer had the highly anticipated new installment listed with a release date of November 28, 2013, and the targeted platform was the PS3. Since the time of the news posting, the date has been removed and the listing is now labeled as "Out of Stock." The interesting part about this is that if the date is accurate, it's very possible that GT6 will be out after the PlayStation 4 is on store shelves. It wouldn't be the first time a major PlayStation release launched after a new piece of hardware; God of War II hit the PS2 several months after the PS3 was available.

However, there is the possibility that GT6 will also hit the PS4. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi is a perfectionist and has always stressed the need for power to satisfy his vision. So GT6 could very well be one of those "cross-generation" titles that are available on both the PS3 and PS4. Guess we'll have to wait until E3 to find out…

Driveclub & GT6 on ps4 launch !?
don't think that will happen.
Plus if gt6 is using an upgraded gt5 engine then say goodbye to a ps4 sameday release.

Launch day is clearly out of the picture. Besides, Sony never had GT alongside a console's launch. Hardware boosts doesn't have to be in the beginning. Sony already has enough games, imo, covering several genres, for the PS4's launch, with DriveClub probably being the start for Sony's next gen racing experience, not Gran Turismo.

For it to launch on both platforms would be a great idea to pursue. You already have a huge install base in the PS3 and with a PS4 version it could be advertised as the "Enhanced" option with better graphics and play styles.

Slim chance. It's a good idea to grasp, but reality is even if it does happen, it won't happen for awhile. By then, PS3 releases may become irrelevant.

Instead, Sony could pursue a possible PS3 GT6/GTVita combo releasing in 2013 (giving sales boost to Vita and exposing GT6 to a large install base), give DriveClub a needed 1-2 years of exposure as an exclusive, sole racing title, and by then a proper GT PS4 can arrive, giving the PS4 a sales boost then.

And please no 5 plus years joke. With the PS4, PD may just be able to make a proper GT PS4 in two years time. Codings aside, all they have to worry about is modeling the cars and tracks sufficiently.

Makes more sense to get as much money out of the gt5 engine as possible and release it on ps3.bigger install base too.
Only downside is Gran turismo sells hardware and driveclub is unproven so a ps4 gt is coming…but when??

I suspect the game won't come to PS4 because Kazunori wouldn't want to just bring over a 'port' of a game that's been in the design stages on PS3 for years. No, I think he'd want something from the ground up on newer hardware as he had on GT5.
It takes tons and tons of man hours to model them car models to spec. I know. I've done it to an extent. I would imagine the detail level possible on PS4 would just be insanely detailed. Detailed as Drive Club demonstrated.
Also, I see Sony really stressing for a design that fits the vision of the PS4. Something that really aims at this 'connected' experience the PS4 is boasting. I don't think the PS3 has those sort of structures in place on it's own for a cross-platform representation of that.

Well, this would fall in line with their history of releasing GT titles. Two per generation.

I think it will be a PS3 title. The game engine they are using currently for GT5 has been in development for PS3 specifically since the PS3 was made. Remember GT:HD Concept.

They would not be able to replicate the game on the X86 platform that quickly and Kaz would never throw away all that hard work.

They will wait to make sure GT for PS4 is legendary and will come out halfway through it's lifetime to respark sales.

yes, radically different hardware this time around. If the PS4 was an augmented PS3, then I'd believe it a tad more.

I also see Sony's marketing of Drive Club and GT5 during the PS4 launch window as improbable.

I do think we'll see some sort of teaser sampler of GT on PS4 hardware early on.

I don't care if I get another one on PS3, all I care is that I get myself a new GT to plat.

With DriveClub coming out at or near launch, I'll need a little time to beat that one anyway.
