Platinum Games knows how to make a slam-bang action extravaganza, as evidenced by Vanquish and Bayonetta .
Therefore, Raiden's dicin' and slicin' couldn't be in better hands. Here's a look at the legendary ninja facing down a mammoth boss in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance , and it appears to be quite promising.
No, it's not "Metal Gear Solid" but Kojima has made it clear in the past that it's not supposed to be; this is a spin-off. If you're waiting for the stealth/action approach, you should be looking forward to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes . But for action aficionados, this title looks particularly compelling, and it could end up being one of the most accomplished games of 2013. Raiden is wicked capable in more ways than one, and the combat appears to be fast and absolutely furious.
What do you think?

Did Raiden always wear high-heels?
He did, look at MGS4 during his first fight with Vamp.
Interesting, more power to him I guess.
Has good action no doubt. I like the use of the Metal Gear HUD too. Only thing that concerns me is the slow mo sword slicing. I like it but don't want it to get too repetitive.
This game is going to be great! I got the Z.O.E HD collection and have played the MGR demo included. Gameplay is excellent. There is stealth, its comparable to how Uncharted does stealth, were you have short stealth segments before the next big shoot out.
Story seems great from the 2 or 3 cutscenes it had, cutscenes aren't as long as MGS4's, but are still longer than your average game (probably longer than PW's). Characters imo are pretty interesting.
I'd say this could be the last Metal Gear game with traditional boss fights. GZ looks to me like it might go for scripted boss fights similar to Uncharted or something, what with no hud and being limited to two weapons (i'm talking about GZ)
My advice to MGS fans is to give Rising a chance, there are some things it just might do better than future MGS games.

Fanboys are impossible to please, if this game wasn't related with Metal Gear, a bunch of people would be loving this, it makes DMC looks like a Sega Genesis game!

Too true. Unfortunately, the Metal Gear fanbase is filled with THE most elitist fanboys ever. I've been on the MGS forums (wouldn't recommend going there) , and basically if your favorite MGS game isn't their favorite, your either an idiot or not a real fan. And not to mention the constant Kojima bashing.
I can see why Kojima would want to expand the fanbase, the current one is filled with loony toons.

Maybe i shouldn't say "filled". Despite the large amount of members MGSF has, only about 20 to 30 of them are regular contributors. I seriously doubt they represent the opinions of a fanbase with about five million people.
I'll go with "vocal minority" instead. 🙂

I disagree, as a fan I would have been so content with the story being set between MGS2 – MGS4. But setting a story with Raiden after he earned his peace in from MGS4 is just milking it.
Ultima if that was the case the game wouldn't be a spin off, and a lot of Metal Gear elitist would hate this game even more xD
Lookin' like a pretty solid $15 action title.
Na, dude, it looks better than Dante's Inferno :p
uh no, DI had very smooth animations at 60fps, look how choppy Raiden moves.
He really looked old in this trailer.
Awesome!
Odd. I love DMC…I love MGS.
By all reason, I should be eagerly anticipating the release of this game.
But my interest has dwindled since Platinum Games took over….
But it's just supposed to be a spin-off, so no damage is done, I guess.
You really shouldn't.
One thing Platinum Games knows is action games.
Beyonetta and Vanquish were both amazing old school action games.
Platinum games are one of the best developers this Gen I expect to get entertained with this game, they always deliver.
More excited for MGR (aka vanquish with swords) than I am for this darn dmc reboot. Which I hope crashes and burns, turning into just some type of alternative universe or spin off title.
This game looks freakin' sweet!
I cannot wait for it.
interested to see how this turns out, however PD have not exactly put out the best games this gen, HATED bayonetta, vanquish was ok.
i just hope the slice mechanic from the original E3 trailers is still very much in tact, it was really cool how you could slice down supporting structures and the whole building would come toppling down.
As a MGS fan, this makes me want to vomit. The music especially is atrocious SCREAM-O high school BS.
The action is absurdly over the top to the point of I can't suspend my disbelief. It looks so easy, especially with the QTE.
The multiple slicing mechanic is more than the mind can handle and it looks so just non MGS and so much like a Platinum game that it doesn't deserve to be an MG game.
MGS has always had over the top action, but it always done in a way that worked just enough because it was balanced out by these amazing characters and a great story. Rising just looks forced storywise and looks like it has some decent hack and slash going on, but it's just not what I want. And it's just so unnecessary in all respects whether it be a spin off or not. This game doesn't and shouldn't exist. It pointless and is done to capitalize off making Raiden into a bad ass in MGS4.
Hmmp! Sephiroth wannabe!!!!
