GameStop: “Frankenstorm” Didn’t Hamper Assassin’s Creed III

Hurricane Sandy did some serious damage on the east coast. But it wasn't enough to significantly hurt one of the biggest games of the year.

Although the "Frankenstorm" halted Assassin's Creed III midnight launch parties at hundreds of GameStop locations, Ubisoft's blockbuster still sold extremely well. GameStop president Tony Bartel has revealed that due to "heroic efforts on the parts of our associates," ACIII has been a success.

Bartel said they were able to open some GameStop locations the morning after the storm hit and in some cases, even before competing stores. As such, they were able to "minimize the loss significantly" and the game ended up breaking launch sales records for the retailer. First-week sales for the critically acclaimed title hit 3.5 million, a 100% increase over last year's Assassin's Creed: Revelations . So Sandy or no Sandy, ACIII pushed forward and claimed the hearts of a great many.

And that's good to hear.

It didn't hamper sales because I had pre-ordered back in April. It did however keep me from picking it up for 24 hours.

It's an amazing game and so much fun. I think this series has continued to improve each year even with such a short turnover cycle. I don't know how Ubisoft is doing it, but they're doing it well!

I hope they manage that same level of improvement with Far Cry 3, cause if so it's gonna be *stellar*.

Just an FYI,

There is still a major ongoing recovery going on in just New Jersey alone, along with many other Eastern Seaboard coasts.

In N.J. alone, residential parts of Atlantic City were under 6 feet of water & people lost their homes & all of the belongings inside them.

In other parts of N.J, homes are completely missing due to being sucked into the Atlantic Ocean, while countless other homes are now inhabitable due to the winds & hurricane waves ripping them off of their foundations, & some even deposited in streets or neighbor's yards.

And then to top it off, a Nor'easter came in a week later & dumped over an inch of snow & freezing temperatures on us.

And because of all that, here are now tons of folks sleeping in FEMA camp tent city's with nothing more than a blanket & maybe a little bit of donated clothes.

And factor in that numerous other states were also slammed, I think AC 3 was the least of worries for all those of those who were affected by. Sandy.

so having to cancel so many midnight launches, and having stores closed some for several days, had no effect on the financial state?
hmmm, i dident know you could sell games when the store is closed.
😉
seriously, why do people spew out this sh*t?
i mean its not questionable, its down out right BS!
no one could ever believe it, so why spew it out?
