Update: Just so everyone knows, this deadline has been extended through this weekend. I'm just wicked busy. 🙂
Original Story:
During such a busy time of year, wouldn't you like to snag a free game?
In the latest iteration of our So You Think You Can Review Video Games user review contest, you can win a copy of the excellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown or maybe, just maybe, there's something else I have that you want…
Just follow the contest rules via the link above and submit a user review. But here's the twist- The review must be for a fall title; the starting cut-off point is Borderlands 2 , which launched on September 18. it can be for any game that has released this autumn thus far, and it has to be for one of the PlayStation platforms (obviously). As per normal, the 10 best submissions will go up in a weekly poll, so the community can vote on the best review. If there are more than 10, I'll pick the best; if there are less, all will be included in the voting.
You've got one week to write and submit your review; deadline is Thursday, November 8.
Please just remember that you must be a resident of the US to be eligible to win; I just can't ship outside the country. And to get an idea of what else might be available, you might want to check this update . Maybe I'll even have LittleBigPlanet Karting or Sports Champions 2 or Assassin's Creed III: Liberation …hmmm… Good luck! 🙂
So Borderlands 2 is fair game, or is it any game that came out after that?
Borderlands 2 is fair.
Once more unto the breach? I dunno…
World, if you're still wanting to do a journalism gig in videogames, I say you'd better do every single one of these contests, or like contests every chance you get. It'll improve your skills and heighten your chances for obtaining paid work.
..just my advice 😉
My skills are top notch, but I don't think this contest fits well on a resume.
but wouldn't it be great to say, "hey, this here review I wrote is a personal favorite of mine. Have a look (hands money-bags man your neatly printed review) I actually won a writing contest on this piece. Ha I'd take free and easy games in way they'd come"
Money-Bags Man: "Ha! I like this. I like your ambition too and the cut of your jib. You're hired!"
see just like that =)
Lol, I do have a finely cut jib.
I'll take a stab at this! I have family in the US I can get it shipped to on the very off chance I won! 🙂 That alright?
Do it!
Seems perfectly legit since the hindrance to outside participation is the shipping. I'll make a point to read your submission too, which means I'll have to read everybody's in the vote list to be fair.
Phew and here I thought the FF Tactics restriction gone done and buried this contest for good.
Ben is TTT2 up for winning?
Yeah that thing was what killed my chances and effort with my Lollipop Chainsaw review.
What FF Tactics restriction?
Yeah, you can do TTT2.
Your last entry said the user review had to be for FFT, then it just vanished.
Oh yeah, that's just because nobody did one. LOL
Damn, I knew I should have gotten that one off. = (
Ben, I'm still a little confused. So you have TTT2 as an available prize?
=)
I think Ben misunderstood your question, he may have thought you were asking if you could review TTT2 for the contest.

Sorry, I'm reading REALLY fast as of late. I thought you asked if TTT2 could be done for a review.
No, I don't have the game to give away. Sorry.
doh! oh well, no biggie
WHAT?!?! I don't remember this FFT review thing. I must have missed it or let it completely slip my mind!
I might get in on this. It's mid term week but there might be some spare time, and I previously hadn't involved myself in the others. I actually prefer reading the reviews rather than writing at all. 😉 but it could be fun!
When you say that the game must be on a PS platform, does that mean that you must use the PS version of the game for the review. Ie…if I wanted to review XCOM, but only have the pc version, would that still be eligible for review?
Just curious,
If the review is for a Playstation platform, why would you use a PC version?
You can write the review, provided you note that you used a different version.
@Biker: I look at it as a review of the game, not necessarily of the PS version of the game. Outside of a few outliers, primarily from the start of the gen, all versions of any particular game will be the same regardless of platform. There will be some small issues here and there (particularly between pc and console versions), and these can become important at times, but the major things are still the same.
Long story short: I want to use the pc version because that's the one I have. = p
If I wasn't working, I hop on this in a heartbeat. I don't have the time, though. XCOM looks like a real treat, so come Black Friday, I will be getting it.
XCondom: Penis Unknown
Auto correct?
World automatically corrected it, yes. :p
haha
If LittleBigPlanet Karting is a prize, will it include the preorder bonus ?
Ben, will there ever be one of these contests where you can review a game that came out whenever again? It's pretty fun to talk about your favourite games in a review format, but I'm too poor and the last two games I got were in 2011.
Jumped in on this with a review for NFS: Most Wanted. 🙂
Good luck to all who participate!
Dammit. I just sent in my review yesterday night because I thought the deadline was Thursday night, and now you're saying it's the end of the weekend. It's not possible to re-submit a review again, is it? I wasn't 100 percent satisfied with my review, but I sent it in to reach the deadline on time. Whaddya think?
