There will be no shortened NBA season this year; everything is primed and rarin' to go.
Maybe that's part of the reason why NBA 2K13 is breaking sales records. 2K Sports announced today that the recently released title is currently the "top-selling and top-rated" installment in the esteemed b-ball series.
In its first week at retail, the game sold 49% more copies than the franchise's previous record-holder, NBA 2K11 . 2K partially attributed this performance to the "expanding global popularity of the NBA 2K brand," which enjoyed a 66% international sales increase. Furthermore, the number of online players has doubled since last year's iteration, as growth there is registered at 127%. The review scores have also been stellar, as many major sources awarded the fantastic basketball simulator scores of 9+ across the board.
Said 2K Sports marketing vice president Jason Argent:
"Our early sales figures are a validation of our ongoing efforts to push this franchise to new heights. We owe it to our great fans to continually improve our title – year in and year out – and that’s exactly what we’ve done with NBA 2K13."
For the record, I'm sorry we don't have a review of NBA 2K13 but I never saw a review copy from 2K. Not sure what happened there but…well, you know it's good. You don't need me to tell you. 🙂

This game is pretty good. I love it. Too bad EA couldn't make this type of quality.
the Jay-Z label was a instant no thanks for me.
They really knocked this one out of the park. Takes a while to get used to the new control scheme but once you do..wow..
I got it, and even though Jay-Z definitely changed the presentation of the game, it's definitely the best basketball game I've ever bought. The physics, animations, and just overall gameplay is just amazing. I wonder what would happen if they took that kind of polish and realism to a football video game…
The 2K football games were always more fun and polished then the Madden series was. Shame we may never see it again though with contract exclusivity.
You would think after their direct competition, NBA Elite, went down, they'd skimped down and slow down… nope. They continue to raise the bar like there is still competition. I have to appreciate developers that do this. Continue to strive for innovation and improvements if there is the possibility. I'm looking at you CoD.
