Sex sells. …oh okay, the game was actually lots of fun, too.
Developer Kadokawa Games hosted a special Lollipop Chainsaw Summer Appreciation Festival event, during which it was revealed that shipments for the game had surpassed 700,000 units , which means that a great many gamers have watched Juliet Starling suck on a lollipop and decapitate legions of "undead douchebags."
This performance makes it the most popular Grasshopper Manufacture title to date. To celebrate, Kadokawa CEO Yoshimi Yasuda unveiled the first trailer for Killer is Dead , the studio's new project. We don't have that trailer just yet, but various sources, including Famitsu and Impress Watch, have reported that it featured a man with a cyborg left arm and a katana in his right hand. The style appeared to be a blend of No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw , apparently. Grasshopper boss Suda 51 added that we can expect a "new hero" in Killer is Dead along with "lots of hot girls." …big surprise.
The game is slated to launch some time next year for the PS3 and 360. As for Lollipop , we definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for some mindless titillating fun.

AWESOME! Lollipop was a good fun game.
Hope all those get sold, GM needs some solid sales and LPC is a lot of crazy fun. I'll keep Killer is Dead in my sights.
just goes to show, put big tits on anything and it will fly off the shelves!
while awesome really well thought out games like enslaved struggle to sell a third of that!
sigh.
Fact: Enslaved has sold more than Lollipop Chainsaw at this point in time.

has?
last time i checked it was under 300K.
eh, you get the point.
These are shipped so they aren't really "off the shelves" entirely yet.
The advertising campaign and the fact that it's fun might have helped too.
check again. 0.88 million.
Enslaved was better but not by much. Lollipop Chainsaw was solid and fun, regardless of what you think about its sex appeal.
combat maybe yea but the story in enslaved was far better than lollipop chainsaw.
hell its still one of the best stories this gen!
had some nice epic moments too, the plane scene from the demo was pretty impressive.
lollipop chainsaw was good for its silly factor, the farm bulldozers in the field were funny but that was about it the rest was pretty mediocre.
I think part of the appeal is in the price too, here in the UK the game was released in shops for half the price of normal retail prices.
So their should be a greatest hit version right?
