Back in 2005, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath dropped for the Xbox. Recently, we had heard about a high-definition overhaul, set to be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.
But the PSN version was delayed; developer Just Add Water missed their release window and fans of the critically acclaimed franchise have been waiting for an update. Well, here it is.
Sony has announced that Stranger's Wrath HD will finally land on the Network on December 27. It'll have a price tag of $14.99 and include remodeled characters, higher-res textures, updated environments, tweaked audio and menus, and new difficulty modes. Trophies and stereoscopic 3D are almost a given these days, but don't forget about PlayStation Move support as well.
Yeah, this sequel wasn't anything like the initial installments on the first PlayStation, which were puzzle-oriented. They were also well ahead of their time, as Playboy model Jo Garcia reminded us . Oddworld . Hot girl. …yeah, they went together in one special part of the world. Just accept it.
Oddworld was an awesome game back in the day and still holds up well.
Will get this if plus discounts it
I want to play this game since I couldn't have it 'cause it went to the Xbox… :/
But I'd very much take a sequel to the series over to this one and in 2D, please! I played Munch's Odyssey and it wasn't bad, but it's not… nostalgic? IDK, something was missing…
Looking good. I probably will fork over the cash for it.
On a sidenote…does anyone even remember Lorne Lanning and his infamous quote?
Actually, no. What did he say? I'm curious.
@ DrRockso87
Lorne Lanning was the owner of Oddworld Inhabitants. When he sold his studio to Microsoft he stated this now infamous quote.
"X-Box is the future,Playstation is the Past." I wonder how he feels about that now. 😉
On that note,PennyArcade did a comic about the sale of the studio. It was quite funny.

I remember that quote now. Such a mistake. I understand why because the Xbox was definitely a stronger (not better, but definitely stronger) system than the PS2 and Microsoft offered to publish their game but in retrospect, they developed that game for the wrong console.
Apparently the Oddworld games sold 4 MILLION copies on the PS1 so moving to the PS2 (which was hands down the most popular system of that time) would've guaranteed a ton more sales for 'Munch's Oddysee' and 'Stranger's Wrath' but oh well. At least we're seeing the games now on the PS3.
oh how i wish we could bring the originals back!
actually downloaded abes odyssey and pandemonium for my PSP last week, 2 of the best games ever made!
Just Add Water and Oddworld Inhabitants announced they're working on a full, legit HD remake of 'Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee' (and probably 'Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus' soon afterward).
So, the originals are definitely coming in HD glory. No clue when though.
Id rather just wait for the entire Oddbox, unless Munch's Oddysee is already on PSN (is it, I can never tell its always so hard finding news relating to oddworld?).
Very good news though, still havent played munch and stranger but the 2 Abe games are my 2 favourite games of all time (a good story, good puzzle/action mechanics with innovative gamespeak and multiple endings, not to mention beautiful vistas and locations, weird characters and creatures and a bit of comedy and tragedy all mixed into one glorious pot).
Unfortunately not. 'Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD' will most likely release this Spring.
Sad because I really want to play that game (amazing, nostalgic game + easy friggin' platinum) but Just Add Water *just* announced when 'Stranger's Wrath HD' would release so it'll take time.
I loved this game when i had an orginal xbox (yes i too had one) anywase it was super fun and will be getting this for sure off of the PSN 🙂
