Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath On PS4 Is A Definite Possibility

We're already getting a high-definition remake of the original Oddworld .

But developer Just Add Water doesn't want to stop there. Franchise creator Lorne Lanning told Eurogamer at this year's Game Developers Conference that he'd also like to see a PlayStation 4 version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath .

Initially released exclusively on the Xbox in 2005, Stranger's Wrath was more of an action/platformer, while the first Oddworld titles on PlayStation were heavily invested in puzzles. I definitely prefer the latter but Stranger's Wrath did get some decent press; it was re-released in high-def form on the PS3 and Vita, by the way. The PS4 version, however, would boast "some new dynamics."

This is all a wait-and-see scenario, though, as is the upcoming Oddworld: New 'n Tasty , which needs to sell at least 250,000 copies to fuel more high-def overhauls.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD Heading To Vita This Fall

We now know that the original Oddworld remake will be called Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty , and it should arrive this fall for the PS3, 360, PC, and Vita platforms.

But just so you know, owners of Sony's handheld will get another Oddworld entry this fall. According to Eurogamer , developer Just Add Water will bring Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD to the Vita.

Apparently, the game is only two weeks away from submission with Sony Computer Entertainment and once they approve it, the release will be nigh. For those who don't recall this title, it debuted on the Xbox back in 2005 and the HD iteration is already available on the PSN for the PS3. It's really nothing like the first Oddworld games on the first PlayStation, which were adventures that focused almost exclusively on puzzles and some minor platforming. Stranger's Wrath is action-oriented…which doesn't mean it's bad ; I'm just clarifying.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath Finally Headed To PSN

Back in 2005, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath dropped for the Xbox. Recently, we had heard about a high-definition overhaul, set to be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace.

But the PSN version was delayed; developer Just Add Water missed their release window and fans of the critically acclaimed franchise have been waiting for an update. Well, here it is.

Sony has announced that Stranger's Wrath HD will finally land on the Network on December 27. It'll have a price tag of $14.99 and include remodeled characters, higher-res textures, updated environments, tweaked audio and menus, and new difficulty modes. Trophies and stereoscopic 3D are almost a given these days, but don't forget about PlayStation Move support as well.

Yeah, this sequel wasn't anything like the initial installments on the first PlayStation, which were puzzle-oriented. They were also well ahead of their time, as Playboy model Jo Garcia reminded us . Oddworld . Hot girl. …yeah, they went together in one special part of the world. Just accept it.
