Kojima To Reveal “The Truth” About Rising At VGAs

Love 'em or hate 'em, the Spike TV Video Game Awards have become quite the event; last year, the award show played host to plenty of big game announcements, including the debuts of Mass Effect 3 , The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , Prototype 2 , and others.

We can probably expect more of the same this year, along with something else: the "truth" about Metal Gear Solid: Rising . Yeah, we don't know what that means, either, but Spike TV executive producer Geoff Keighley has updated his Twitter page with the following:

"The truth about Metal Gear Solid: Rising will finally be revealed at 2011 VGAs by @hideo_kojima_en. 12.10.11"

The cool part is that Kojima will be on hand to reveal that truth, which we're hoping is awesome news. We really haven't heard much about Rising since it was first unveiled in 2009, so we're kinda wondering what's happening… Remember, this is not technically Kojima's project; although he is overseeing the work to some extent, he has passed this on to another internal team. Or so we've heard.

Oh, and Xbox Live director of programming, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has confirmed that the Alan Wake follow-up, which we had hoped would come to the PlayStation platform, will be an exclusive standalone downloadable title on Live. At least, we're assuming it's exclusive. But even if it is, many exclusives from Live have made their way to the PSN, including the award-winning Limbo .

Anyway, we're interested in the "truth" about Metal Gear Solid: Rising . Everyone hold your breath…

The next Alan Wake is probably filler between Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2(which is rumored to be revealed for the next XBOX). I am looking forward to VGA mostly due to Rising and Alan Wake. Alan Wake is still my one of the favorite experiences of all time. It's the best game on 360 for me.

The truth about Rising?
My guess is that either its being cancelled in favor of a more traditional MGS game, or Rising itself is being re-developed as a more traditional MGS game.

Maybe kojima has taken over development of Rising? In any case, i'm looking forward to the VGA's.

I hope the truth is that no Metal Gear Solid can be done without Kojima. I don't remember the exact quote but I remember him stating something like, that he can't leave MGS alone. He tries to give it to other people to keep what the franchise is known for and EXPAND on it…but maybe for RISING those guys were just screwing up.

So I hope he does direct it. I'm not in anyway bashing the current director for RISING…it's just that…well…there really is no MGS without KOJIMA period.

The truth with Rising is it should have stayed exclusive :p

Naaah kidding! This game fell off my radar so I'm totally psyched for any scrap of news/gameplay/story etc

i don't think alan wake is going multiplat. i too have seen stories about alan wake 2 being for the next xbox and that it will remain exclusive. ms apparently belives in alan wake and is funding the project i think. they usually demand exclusitivity on games they fund. very interesting game that was slightly flawed in its execution i think. my cousin loves that game to death. i have played it some and like it a lot as well.

as for rising. i think it plain sucks mgs is going over to the 360. that is all.

I'll be honest, I've never really been a fan of Metal Gear. I've tried many times before to like the games as others have, but I just can't get into it. With that said, I've always had an appreciation for what it's done and it's art direction. Hopefully Rising is still a real thing, I'll be willing to give it another go.

The fan inside me wants the truth to be that Rising has become a PS exclusive. Realistically I know that's likely not the case. I do wonder what Kojima has to say about Rising though. The info on it has been scarce..

I'm not sure I'm liking the next Alan Wake on Live as a download. Just doesn't seem that it'll get it's just due. Alan Wake just is not appreciated enough on the 360. Multiplat should be the way to go for that game..Although I can only imagine what the experience would've been like had it been a PS exclusive..

Kojima might have decided to add Snake and make it a prequel so the name makes sense.

Please Kojima just tell us that you are taking over! I so badly want this game to have your full attention! And while I'm dreaming why not just scrap the 360 version and max out the PS3 with it.

Either way I can't wait to slice people in half! I find it therapeutic.

For all those wishing that RISING has stayed exclusive…I hope you guys are only wishing that so that the developers can utilize the PS3 console to its fullest potential by concentrating quite well on the system.

I'm sure there are some who want to see the PS3 "WIN"…but come on now guys…even if Rising was an exclusive to the 360 the PS3 has given much more than the 360 has this generation in regards to gaming.

I think the "truth" about MGR is that it will launch in the holiday of next year. I mean its been 2 years and no official release date. I think its about time.
