Update: We got a little confused with the press releases…maybe the small "UK" part should've been a trifle larger, or maybe we shouldn't have gotten it at all, being in the US. Whatever. The release date for this country is still November 8.
Original Story:
Well, at least it gives us more time to tackle the new AAA titles, right?
We're trying to be optimistic, because we have the disappointing news that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 has been delayed; it was originally slated to launch on November 8, and it has now been pushed to February 3.
If you didn't already know, this assembly of revamped classics includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty , Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater , and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker . The original MGS isn't included because as Kojima said a while back, it quite simply would've taken too much time, as it's a much older PS1 game and the other titles are from the PS2 and PSP.
However, if you purchase the limited Ultimate HD Collection, you'll receive a code to download the first Metal Gear Solid from the PlayStation Network. And oh yes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is also included in that package. Yeah, we have to wait until next year but we can be patient.
P.S. Any chance this one was delayed because they didn't want to release it on the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
Related Game(s): Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Noooooooo!!!!! I had a bad feeling this would happen. All signs point to the delay being because of Call of *Doody* but I hope its because of a trophy patch with MGS4. Is it really being released with the limited edition? I never heard that
Correction..yes your right Ben, its with the ultimate limited edition.
How could this delay be because of CoD? The release date has been known for months. You telling me they're only figuring it out now??
If its not because of COD then what?????
It simply not being ready… The Japanese release for the PS2 remasters isn't until the end of November, and there's little likelihood of it releasing anywhere else before the homeland.
Two weeks before CoD release they say "oop we can't release MGS ?" Nah, the thing just isn't ready. If they make the decision to fix something then they certainly can't just push the BD production back a week during this busy time of year. The only empty spot was in Feb and they took it.
its a multiplatform release, they want to expand to the xbox community, the xbox community would rather buy call of duty. therefore releasing it the same day as call of duty is a bad business decision on their part. move the release date and potential sales improve. although with the xbox crowd, it really doesnt matter. most of them just play gears or cod anyway no matter what other games release.

Bummer. But i thought this delay was only for the European release? If it's just for PAL territories then i can still import the U.S version online.
If not however it's probably a blessing in disguise, too many other games coming out in November anway.
Still abit bummed about it though, however way i try to sugarcoat it.
I believe its only in Europe. I read about this at VG247, and they said the delay was for Europe. I could be wrong though.
On a side note: The Ultimate Edition mentioned in this article is from Zavvi (which i think is in Europe), the Limited Edition here in the US doesn't include MGS1 or MGS4, it includes a art book.
IGN just set the record strait, The US release date is still november 8.

i think foxhounder is correct. this is just about europe. i just talked to 2 different gamestop stores and they swear the game is releasing here in na on nov 8. i said i just read it was delayed, and they said no they would be the 1st to know. hmm…who is right? i'm confused.
Yeah its still coming on november 8 here in the US. The second comment i posted (the one waiting for approval) is a link to IGN, they just updated their article stating the delay is only for europe.
@Foxhounder,
Cheers for the clarification mate, i thought this just applied to Europe. No big deal as i was always going to import this anyway for cheaper, like i do with all of my games.
There is no alterations to the voice acting though is there? I heard a while back that they were re-recording the voice overs or was that just for specific console controls?
It was going to be Uncharted 3 and this for my November purchases. Now what am I going to play. I guess I have plenty of other games to catch up on. I could always read a book or Rage maybe?
The point is I was really looking forward to going to the store (no pre-order this time) and looking at the clerk and saying "Call of What now? Oh no I'll take a copy of the MGS HD collection thank you."
If the limited edition isn't too much. I might go for that. I already have MGS4 so an unopened copy might come in handy 10+ years down the road.

Really?! This is so dissapointing, me and my flatmate were looking forward to a Metal gear Marathon. having MGS2 & 3 in widescreen is a must, they're the only games put in 4:3 stretched to 16:9 which bother me. They just look fat.
I am also curious to know if there is a PAL version of the ultimate edition, art the art book looks gorgeous!
Sucks but I'll live..The only reason I can see them pushing this back b/c of CoD is just the sheer amount of 360 pre-orders for MW3. MW3 has close to 2 million copies pre-ordered for the 360 alone compared to the 770k the PS3 has garnered. So if Konami really wanted to appeal to the 360 crowd then this was clearly the right move.
It makes no difference, CoD is a simple-linear shooter, CoD fans probably never cared about MGS Collection so why bother?
You sure can tell everything about a person based on one of the many games they play.
Keep hating, I'm sure it will do your heart good.
And while you're at it, grow up.

@nas
i have to agree with snaaaakes idea but with a little change. he should've said most cod fans wont really care about the game, especially concerning the xbox community. it seems that they are perfectly content about only playing COD/gears/halo no matter what game releases. those are the only games most of them play. sure battlefield might sneak in a bit but its going to go back to COD/Gears/Halo.
johnld caught my point, and yes, I should have said "Most CoD fans".
well im ok with this since my bday is feb 6th. ill call it a bday present. i most likely wouldnt have had the money til then for this any way.
I really do think it was because of Modern Warfare 3. I mean it's the exact same release date and we all know Modern Warfare 3 will do very well in terms of sales.
Dev made the right move in my opinion. If they want to make a profit, it's best to delay it until the Modern Warfare 3 hype dies down a bit.
Edit: lmao this just gives more people fuel for their eternal hating fire for Modern Warfare 3.

that just sucks. how can a simple hd conversion fall behind schedule? all the hard work has already been done. japanese game production has basically come to a screaming halt this gen. who is handling this conversion? did konami farm it out?
it's a sad day when you have to consider the possibility that the mgs series is running away from mw3. my how times have changed…again this sucks. i was very much looking forward to playing peacewalker.
as for mgs1 remake. what about twin snakes? that was a mgs1 remake that was essentially brought up ps2 standards. why can't they use those assets to start with?
Bluepoint is handling it, the same mob that did GOW and helped with ICO.
A bummer for sure. This is one collection I need to get.
P.S. No. It's not because of CoD
Damn. Apparently the North American release date is still November 8th but UK/EU was pushed back (Europe unfortunately seems to usually be shafted). I'm glad I can still pick it up but feel sorry for others who won't (yet).
umm…. white knight chronicles 2. how long did the US release take after it released in europe. Thats a long localization time. I'm sure they released the game in english in parts of europe, what took so long, hahaha.
Euro delay was announced a while back, so I'm not surprised to hear this, especially when you consider that even the standalone Peace Walker isn't releasing in Japan until the 10th of November. It isn't because of MW3, Konami were just too trigger happy in the first instance.
Now according to ign the 2012 date is the European release date. US launch is still Nov. 8th..
This sucks I was gonna pick it up when it released but i guess i can wait with all the games coming out
ah son of a…..
awesome! still set for next week. i take back my previous comment.
MW3 is just another pointless arcade shooter.
Nexus/The Jupiter Incident 2
WTF?
why does EU get it later?
sigh……… EU getting the middle finger YET AGAIN!
fine konami this is how you thank your fans, my preorder is being cancelled tomorrow!
Suck it up princess, you're a PAL gamer yeah? & you're not used to being shafted in the arse by now? Get used it because that is how it has been for years. I don't like it either but that is the way it rolls.
Time to move on, champ.
No need to deny yourself an ace collection over a delay which can easily be bypassed by importing the game overseas & for cheaper.
of course im use to it, that does not mean it cant still piss me off!
since when did the world revolve around the states?
not fussed – much prefer to play a new game rather that a 'digitally remastered' effort.
