Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Sneaks Onto Vita On June 12

If you didn't pick it up last year, or you'd simply rather have such a collection available on the go, we've got good news.

You don't have much longer to wait before you can put the Metal Gear HD Collection on your slick new PlayStation Vita. Konami has announced the release date: June 12.

Just remember that you don't get the PSP iteration, Peace Walker , which was included in the console release. You do, however, get the high-definition remakes of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater , along with the super cool feature known as "Transfarring," which lets you transfer save data between the PS3 and Vita. As for portable-specific features, the Collection will take advantage of the touchscreen and rear touchpad, as these will be used to zoom in on cut-scenes, peek around corners, cycle through weapons, and even interrogate enemies.

If you'd like to read the analysis of last year's package, go right ahead. Obviously, it's well worth your time.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection For Vita Drops Next Month

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is an absolute must-have for hardcore fans of the legendary franchise.

But they might also want to grab it for the PlayStation Vita, as it will debut the wickedly cool "transfarring" feature, which is undoubtedly one of the biggest appeals of Sony's new portable. Sharing data between the PS3 and Vita? Yes, please.

And the good news is that according to Konami (as reported by Eurogamer ), the game is now set for "late June" in Europe. As for North America, it seems retailers GameStop and Amazon have seen fit to give the Collection a June 12 launch date. Just remember that while the console version of the game featured Peace Walker for the PSP, the Vita iteration will not.

These high-definition overhauls are great for the die-hard followers. I just love that ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection , for instance.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection For Vita Arrives This Summer

As you might expect, that Metal Gear Solid HD Collection was a must for all hardcore fans of the legendary franchise.

But you couldn't take that one with you. The good news is that Konami has confirmed that the excellent assembly of MGS classics will hit the PlayStation Vita this summer.

We don't have an exact date just yet, but that's okay; it's a great option for those who didn't nab this Collection for the PS3 last year. Heck, it's great even if you did. Featuring Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater redone in brilliant high-definition, the Vita version will add two important features: touchscreen and and cross-platform compatibility with the PS3 version; you may recall Konami's "transfarring" save option. So yeah, start playing on one and keep goin' on the other!

The only downside is that while the PS3 iteration included an updated version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker , the Vita version of this Collection won't boast the great PSP game. We're not really sure why (seems like it would be a good fit; one portable to another) but we can live without. MGS2 and MGS3 are plenty, yes?

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Will Have Vita-Specific Features

Hey, don't forget that one of the best high-definition collections of the generation is headed to the PlayStation Vita.

It's the fabulous Metal Gear Solid HD Collection , and Hideo Kojima has provided gamers with a few new screenshots and fresh details .

There will be new features exclusive to Sony's portable, and that includes rear touch pad controls. Basically, it can be used to knife your enemies; the translation reads- "If you flick the touch pad back, it is possible to write off the throat of the enemy with a knife." Yeah, it's rough but you get the point. The rear pad can also be used in first-person to stretch the view, and you might even be able to zoom in and out, too.

We just hope all these fancy control schemes work out well. Whenever you've got a multitude of options for control, developers sometimes want to use them all…to the detriment of game flow. But we imagine Kojima and Co. know exactly what they're doing, so we're not worried.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Pushed Back For Europe

Update: We got a little confused with the press releases…maybe the small "UK" part should've been a trifle larger, or maybe we shouldn't have gotten it at all, being in the US.  Whatever.  The release date for this country is still November 8.

Original Story:

Well, at least it gives us more time to tackle the new AAA titles, right?

We're trying to be optimistic, because we have the disappointing news that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 has been delayed; it was originally slated to launch on November 8, and it has now been pushed to February 3.

If you didn't already know, this assembly of revamped classics includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty , Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater , and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker . The original MGS isn't included because as Kojima said a while back, it quite simply would've taken too much time, as it's a much older PS1 game and the other titles are from the PS2 and PSP.

However, if you purchase the limited Ultimate HD Collection, you'll receive a code to download the first Metal Gear Solid from the PlayStation Network. And oh yes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is also included in that package. Yeah, we have to wait until next year but we can be patient.

P.S. Any chance this one was delayed because they didn't want to release it on the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
