Fantastic Four Preview

Scheduled release date:
Summer 2005

With films like X-Men and The Punisher performing well at the box office, the trend of comics being turned into movies shows no signs of slowing down. Of course, where there's a movie, there has to be a game, and the latest game based on a movie based on a comic book is Fantastic Four. The good news is, these games tend to be pretty good, and judging from the early information we've received from the game's publisher, Activision, Fantastic Four should live up to the hype.

The game's story follows the plot of the movie, and is written by Zak Penn, who wrote the screenplay for X2: X-Men United. It will feature locations from the film, but will also have levels exclusive to the game, including a meeting with Doctor Doom, who in case you couldn't tell, is a bad, bad man.

Fantastic Four is a team based action adventure game where you'll be able to play as Marvel superheroes in a single-player or two-player co-operative modes, if you've got any friends. You will be able to control Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, The Human Torch, and Thing, using their respective abilities of stretching, controlling fire, invisibility and brute force to save the world. You'll also be able to combine team member's abilities to solve puzzles and fend of the relentless onslaught of bad guys.

Developed by Seven Studios, for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube, it is scheduled to ship this summer when the movie hits theatres, and will be rated "T" for Teen. Since the game has just been announced, there's not a bevy of information available, but we will update this preview as we learn more.
