Aaron ThomasElectronic Arts announced today that Desmond Howard will be the cover athlete for NCAA Football 06. If you're wondering why a no-retired player is on the cover, it's because of the game's new "Race for the Heisman" mode, which allows players to take a college player from a high-school standout to college star and hopefully, the Heisman.
"Desmond Howard provided one of the most vivid Heisman moments in college football history and what better way to capture the essence of NCAA Football 06 than by putting his memorable Heisman touchdown pose on the cover of our game," said Todd Sitrin, Vice President, Marketing at EA's Tiburon studio.
"I'm very excited about being chosen to be on the cover of NCAA Football 06," said Desmond Howard. "Winning the Heisman Trophy was one of the greatest moments of my football career and it's cool that EA Sports is now giving gamers the chance to experience that for themselves in NCAA Football 06."
NCAA Football 06 will be released this July on the PS2 and Xbox. No word on a PSP version of the game has been given at this time.
