Upgraded Deadpool Landing On PS4, Xbox One In November

What? Why?

Well, perhaps it'll be a lot better on the new consoles.

As revealed in a recent GameStop tweet , publisher Activision will deliver an updated version of the 2013 action game Deadpool . It'll release on November 17 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and although it will retail for $50, it will also include all the downloadable content from the original game. And fans will be treated to two extra levels and alternate suits, as the game's product page tells us.

Maybe this is because the new movie is set to release next year? In our review of the PS3 version , we said the game was mildly enjoyable but the camera was poor and the gameplay was just repetitive. Pretty sure they're not going to fix these things for the re-release but whatever.

Activision Didn’t Even Want Deadpool To Score Very High

The nuts and bolts of development and publishing in the video game industry can be all sorts of intriguing.

But sometimes it's just plain stupid and depressing.

High Moon Studio's Deadpool didn't turn out all that well, and one of the team's former artists spoke about the problems they faced. It appears that publisher Activision could be blamed; check out what was written in the Polycount forums :

"We had a couple of weeks were we crunched pretty aggressively on Deadpool. Having activision cut aand cut and CUT just took its tole on so many of us. For a studio to demand that we do mandatory overtime for a project and then keep cutting so much time and money from it was ridiculous. At about halfway into development we were told that we weren't even aiming very high in terms of score.

Can you imagine working on a game where your higher ups say "yeah we're shooting for a 64 or lower" and then have them give you mandatory overtime?"

Ironically, in our review , we gave the game a 6.3, which is almost exactly what it deserved. But it's interesting to see that Activision didn't want it any higher; in some ways, I'm not even all that surprised. But when it comes to lower-budget games, publishers aren't expecting as much, and they're also not expecting to dump a ton of resources into the project, either.

Deadpool Game Outed At Comic-Con

Okay, so the superhero parade continues on.

Well, in this case, anti-hero…not long after Activision launched a countdown site at DeadpoolGame.com, the new project became the focus of a Comic-Con panel , in which the title was confirmed for 2013.

The game is currently in development at High Moon Studios, which we find encouraging. The talented team has already produced several great games this generation, including Kung Fu Panda and a few Transformers productions, including the critically acclaimed War for Cybertron . They showed off a trailer, too, which you can view below. It's pretty funny and well worth watching.

We'll have to be on the lookout for future details. Although I'm a little tired of this obsession with comic book characters over the past decade or so, the fixation has resulted in some decent pieces of entertainment.
