PSXE Poll Update: Were So Many Really Expecting Fireworks At E3?

Well, as the biggest fireworks happened at the start of the week, and this poll has been up for a while, we just have to ask:

How many of you voted after seeing Sony's shocking press conference? Come on, fess up. 😉

We wanted to know what your expectations were heading into this E3 and if the results are accurate, the majority expected absolute fireworks. Amazingly enough, that's precisely what we got but again, how many of you really anticipated such surprising announcements? Of course, there were other great presentations during the show as well; Bethesda's, for example, stood out for many.

Looking back, what was your favorite moment of the show this year? Obviously, we can only list 9 in the poll (with an option for "something else") but we'll try to put in the highlights. Which will remain foremost in your mind for a long time?

Platinum Games To Reveal Brand New Project At E3

When a very talented developer says they plan to unveil something new at E3, everyone pays attention.

Platinum Games tells IGN that they've got a currently unannounced title that will make its debut at E3 this month.

They clarified that it is not the Xbox One exclusive Scalebound and that whatever it is, we've never seen it before. Platinum has made Metal Gear Rising , Vanquish , and the Bayonetta games in the past; they specialize in high-octane, wonderfully polished action extravaganzas with a very distinct flair.

Also, don't forget that they don't often do sequels; they tend to prefer new IPs. So when the announcement arrives, don't be surprised if it's not Vanquish 2 (as much as we'd all love to see that).

Will This Year’s E3 Surprise Everyone By Being Memorable?

I think a lot of people are sleeping on this year's E3.

Perhaps they have every right to do so. Right now, it doesn't seem like it's shaping up to be a firework-laden show.

E3 2013 was such a huge deal because both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were going to launch in the fall. Last year's show was okay but nothing too earth-shattering and this year, everyone is hoping for some big announcements, but I don't think many are holding their breath. Sony should probably try and step up with some big first-party announcements (Quantic Dream, Guerrilla Games, Sony Santa Monica, Polyphony, Sucker Punch, etc.) but who knows if they will? And I think we've all given up on The Last Guardian .

We'll see plenty of Rise of the Tomb Raider , I'm sure, along with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Assassin's Creed Syndicate , Call of Duty: Black Ops III , and Star Wars: Battlefront . And I guess more footage of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (and a release date) could generate some waves. But aside from that, we're not really counting on major upheaval. …and that's usually when something drops that shocks the hell out of everyone.

Also, don't forget that developers have had more time with the new consoles, so we should start seeing extremely promising titles designed specifically for PS4 and Xbox One. I think we've moved past the days of reboots, remasters, and definitive editions; I'm sure we'll still see more, but the first year of the current generation just saw an onslaught. I don't think we'll see that again, which means new games are on the horizon. And a lot of them coudl turn heads big time at E3 2015.

What say you?

All The Confirmed Games For E3 2015

E3 is just around the corner and as usual, it will be loaded with highly anticipated titles.

You can probably predict most of them and of course, perhaps the biggest news will come from surprises; i.e., games on tap that we don't know about yet.

But for now, at least we've got a full list thanks to Latest News Explorer . Just be wary of the starred entries; they're only games that are "likely" to appear; they're not confirmed (i.e., Fallout 4 , Borderlands 3 , Titanfall 2 , etc). Click the link to see the whole list but here are some of our favorites:

Again, it'll be the big announcements that will get the most attention, and here's hoping Sony has a few up their sleeve. PlayStation 4 needs a more robust holiday lineup.
