Shiren The Wanderer Gives Us A Reason To Fire Up The Vita

Still got a penchant for quirky Japanese games with an old-school flair? Then don't put away your PlayStation Vita just yet.

Aksys Games has announced Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate , which will hit Sony's portable in North America on July 26.

Players will assume the role of Shiren, who takes to the wilds with a trusted companion by the name of Koppa. Koppa is actually a talking weasel and he has to talk because per tradition, our protagonist Shiren is silent. This new iteration is actually "an enhanced and expanded update of Shiren the Wanderer 5 ," which only released in Japan (check out the trailer below). And as Aksys says, they want this new version to "continue the tradition of rogue-like RPGs by offering players a gaggle of dungeons and monsters to conquer."

This will offer a goodly challenge but you can always team up with a willing friend. If Aksys delivers on the promises, this could be one of the better Vita experiences scheduled for 2016.
