Borderlands 2 Vita: “A New Era Of Portable Shoot-And-Loot”

Next year, one of the best cooperative shooters ever made will go portable.

As revealed at the 2K Games Blog , developers Gearbox Software and Iron Galaxy Studios have teamed up to bring the award-winning Borderlands 2 to the PlayStation Vita. The highly advanced handheld unit just received a price drop , too.

Four Vault Hunters await: Axton the Commando, Maya the Siren, Salvador the Gunzerker and Zer0 the Assassin. The world of Pandora is loaded with plenty of adversaries and your primary villain, Handsome Jack, is one psychotic sucker. You will explore a diverse environment that will continually test your skills, and four-player co-op has never been more entertaining. "A new era of portable shoot-and-loot awaits," as the announcement reads. This will be ready to go in 2014 and will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

We just want to know if we'll be getting all the previously released downloadable content. Will that be immediately available for the Vita version, and will it ship all at once with the game…?

As long as it's cross save, I'm in! If not, I'll wait for a really cheap price.

A good idea, pick up and play addictive gameplay is perfect for portables.

Been fooling around with the KZ Mercenary demo. Looks pretty sharp. Looks like weighty (or sluggish depending on who you ask) controls are pretty much back.

Not sold yet on Borderlands 2, but it's nice knowing the Vita is still getting third party support.

It has lots of fun guns and crazy action, but that's about it. Not pretty, not deep, not the AAA it masquerades as.

I'm not compelled by it's art direction. The character designs are good and all, but the whole psuedo-cell shaded look is a turn off.

I agree, cell shading is one area where the Japanese blow westerners out of the water, in BL it feels like a cost cutting measure.

I felt a twitch in the force. The thought of a Vita became a tad more bright.

But is it cross-platform coop play?!

D1P for me! Truly an epic game! It will be interesting to see if we get all the DLC and all of Borderland 2. I wonder if they will have to shrink it down? It would be nice if my season pass transferred as well. However I would understand if it didn't.

This will be around when the Playstation Cloud MAY be functioning. I wonder how games will be added to the classic PS1, PS2 and PS3 streaming service. Hopefully Borderlands 2 isn't one of those games so gamers will have to buy it on the Vita. My guess they already thought of that ;).

Getting Borderlands 2 on the Vita with it's twin sticks WILL sell more Vitas especially if the port is rock solid. Hopefully we will start seeing Vita as one of the release consoles for future FPS. No need to wait if Vita can handle Borderlands 2.

Good game to be on it. I got burned out after I leveled 5 character classes to 40 or 50 or whatever it was.

Really excited about this. This is one of the big ones I missed and the Vita SCREAMS for a western RPG like this. The exploration and loot-hunting just seems like the perfect fit for the system.

This is GREAT news! I thought this was going to be a game that got lost in my backlog for this generation, but now it's Vita all the way FTW!

Somewhat OT:

Playing KZ Vita beta right now: only one map but I'm already having more fun with it than I had with KZ3 (and, still, I played the stuffing out of that game)!

Between Dragon's Crown, Killzone Beta, and Velocity Ultra, all my recent gaming time has been on my Vita 🙂

Well, this game hitting the Vita may be just what the Vita needs in terms of attractiveness. I really want a Vita, but still just cannot justify the price tag yet.
