Quantic Dream’s Mystery PS4 Title Will Be “Very, Very Different”

If there's one next-gen project that excites me more than any other revealed so far, it might be Quantic Dream's mystery PlayStation 4 title.

The developer showed off a PS4 stage demo this past February when Sony's new console was revealed. It was entitled "The Dark Sorcerer" and essentially displayed the capability and potential of the system. There was also that fantastic "Kara" tech demo the team created last year.

But what is their new game, exactly? Well, Quantic Dream boss David Cage told Game Informer that in fact, it'll be "very, very different" as compared to Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls . Cage said they're "building on the same grounds but in a very, very different way." The bottom line is that if you think you know what to expect, think again:

"People should expect to be surprised again because this is really what we try to do with each game: not give people what they expect, give them something they want maybe without knowing this is what they want."

Currently, the untitled PS4 project is in the pre-production phase, primarily because Beyond has required all the time and resources the studio had to offer. Cage has also said in the past that this game will feature "one of the strongest concepts" he has ever devised. Yeah, it's safe to say that this guy has a progressive mind for interactive entertainment, and I am so on board. The industry desperately needs this innovation.

Always interesting with Cage and Quantic Dream. Looking forward to hearing more about the new title.

It's a shame they took my Beyond pre-order away so I'll have to wait on that but I'm looking forward to learning about this new project too.

It's always better for a good artist to give people what they don't know they want than to give them what they think they want.

I wouldn't be surprised if they get back to some sci-fi roots.

If these guys keep on like this and release *new* stuff instead of sequels, well then I can guarantee them a spot on my dev top 5 list. That's how we want it.

They've never done a sequel to any game they've made. They don't believe in them.

Sold! Seriously, I don't really care what he's doing. With Heavy Rain, Cage proved himself to be one of the few true visionaries of this industry, so, unless Beyond fails to resonate with me on any level, whatever comes next is a must-buy.

Should be good. Would like to see him play around with the possibility of Ai becoming aware like his teamed showed in the tech demo. I realize that will never happen, but regardless whatever it is he and his team produce it will surely be a great story to tell.

Keep playing!

This is pretty exciting since they usually don't kid around. It'll be good for them too, since that even though I love what they offer many other gamers just label them as the group that just create interactive dramas.

Not that I see anything wrong with that given there aren't many other devs who over what they do. Though this is one case with the right people in the last 5 years where experimenting and reaching out isn't a bad idea.

Note that in general but so many devs have done it recently in the name of greed that I am weary of the notion.
