Fans of the original Beyond Good & Evil waited an entire generation for the sequel, but never got it, despite it being originally announced in 2008.
However, it should still be on the horizon. You just have to continue to be patient. Ubisoft designer Michel Ancel spoke to IGN about the project, and how and why it never made it this generation:
"I think we were doing something too big for this period. Honestly, it was too challenging to put that on [current] consoles. I don't say the consoles were not good enough, I don’t say the team was not good enough, but you have to scale what you want to do and the console itself."
Ancel added that with the new consoles, BG&E2 is a distinct possibility. Furthermore, it won't merely be a sequel, but "something that really makes all the ideas that we had for the first one possible," thanks to next-gen power. The bottom line is that Ancel's vision for this new entry is plenty large, and he wants to give players lots of freedom:
"My feeling is that you want to investigate with your own way of investigating. I like the freedom of choosing your vehicles, flying away with the spaceship, and all those things. It was in Beyond Good & Evil 1 but it was not as much as we wanted."
He's right about that. The first game was sort of open-ended, but not to the level some games are these days. Can you imagine BG&E on much larger scale…? Sounds awesome!

Bologna, it just never got the green light because yearly AC cash-ins were being developed around the clock. BG&E is more risky saleswise.
Deja vu…
yeah didn't they say this 2 weeks ago too?
Yeah man, and Final Fantasy VII was too big for PS3 and Final Fantasy Versus was too big for PS3 and and and…
I find it stupid for devs to make these kind of comments, you're only putting pressure on your team.
Now even if you release a quality game people are going to respond with, "this could have been released last gen."
Pretty much just shooting yourself in the foot with these type of comments.
How would they know that? Lol, if they do manage to release it and the campaign is only 6 hours long, then I'd be severely disappointed in Ubisoft to the point of not talking them seriously.

After seeing GTAV, I kinda doubt curren-gen consoles are too big.
But I understand. Ubisoft doesn't want to release this game. They do because fans want it and it's in development but they're afraid it won't sell like a new AssCreed title.
Whatever though. Seeing Beyond Good & Evil 2 for PS4 is much more enticing than current-generation. Now just work on and finish up the game already!!
