Remember that fake box art for an inFamous collection on PS4?
Well there was another for Sucker Punch and a Spider-man game, which quickly took the wind out of the sails of the possibility of the best superhero game makers doing a great superhero game for spidey. This is something that Activision has been a little challenged at.
Well there's more life in the story. If you saw Spidey in Captain America Civil War as I did (awe-some!) then you know the ownership of the character has been crossing hands so why not in the video game world as well?
Gamepur reported that a motion capture artist, Stephen Oyoung, listed working on an "untitled PS4 Spider-man project" before quickly removing it from his list of credits. They also said that Sony had acquired the Spider-man rights in a deal that included some horse trading including some Call of Duty goodies.
What does this mean? Well, on the face of it, it could mean Spidey is going exclusive. But, as we can all tell at this point in this particular console war anybody who is anybody has a PS4. And if you dont, the unitard may be a reason to make the change.
Related Game(s): infamous, infamous 2, infamous second son, Spider-man, the amazing spider-man
I'm going to be really disappointed if it turns out true, aren't there already Spiderman games releasing once in a while? I hate it when developers who can establish an ip of their own jump on something already established, so lame -_-
yeah but it's Sucker Punch man. Sucker freaking Punch! not Activision and their poopy games.
I see what your saying, a Spiderman game done right would be a blast.Wouldn't you personally rather see a new ip from them or them announcing infamous 3: The rise of Cole, c'mon world tell the truth! 🙂
The truth is hell yeah I want that. I want inFamous 3: Rise of Cole and then let them move onto something new. But Spidey and superheros in general DO need the same treatment they are getting in theatres and SP is the one to start the trends imo!
Besides. At this point in the process, Second Son is so far in the background a Spider game would be close to finished by now. They would have made most of it in anticipation of this deal.
They can probably wrap production in time to coincide with or before the first Spider-man movie in the Marvel Universe now that it has been wrested away from the people messing it up at the movies.

Never played a Spiderman game before but would love to. As for Sucker Punch, I only liked the first Infamous but I can appreciate they're a good choice for this comic book hero style game.
you didn't miss much except Spider-man 2 and Ultimate Spider-man in the last generation. Thanks for not raking me on the anybody whose anybody PS4 joke, just being lighthearted on a PS site yknow.

C'mon mate. I don't go around 'raking?' on people. On the contrary you guys are doing a great job.
Thanks.
This would be great!
There's so much untapped potential in super hero games.
It doesn't just have to be Batman that's great.
I know right? High Moon did everything they could with Nolan North as Deadpool but Activision tied their hands pretty tight with a tiny budget. Same seems to be true of other hero games like Captain America and Activision's Spider-man games.
We need a renaissance here.
Best super hero game makers?…Rocksteady begs to differ!!!
Hope this Spidey news is true!
wellllllll….. Batman has no powers… sooo….. heh heh
I didn't notice he said that, now now world I know you probably never seen any of the Batman games let alone touch them but you have to give credit were is due even if you don't particully like it.I hate DmC more than anynody in this planet and I will tell that NT did a fantastic job on the game in general.
Actually I did play 2 of them and they are incredible, I was just trying to weasel out of my statement because I forgot about Rocksteady when I made that comment because well I still think inFamous is a better series but that IS more editorial than news 😉
Loved Spidey in Cival War. They really nailed Peter Parker which imo was what the first two tries really messed up. That and the mid fight banter was great. They finally portrayed him as a nervous 15 year old kid instead of a cocky guy who seemed to be in his mid 20s. Definitely closer to how I imagined him talking when I read the books.
Love Sucker Punch. They would knock this out of the park. It was always fun to move around the city as Cole and I would love to see how they would tackle the web slinging mechanics. Hopefully something akin to Spiderman 2 on PS2. I don't understand why they keep watering that down. I hated it in The Amazing games.

Spot on. Everything you said right there. I thought perhaps his banter went a tad over the top in the film though, just by 2 or 3 lines for the seriousness of the movie, buuut on the other hand they did weight it out nicely by giving Falcon a counterbalance statement. So while it oofed me a little as a critic it also addressed itself as an issue, which is smart.
That's exactly how you'd sell an awkward stress-talker like Peter Parker in a world of super strong and super silent types that stand on rooftops at night in the pouring rain. You have to parody him while you do it so everyone is in on the full experience.

Sucker punch know how to create the physics, their story telling skills however is hopeless. Infamous for me always had a strong start and quickly lost steam.
I'm guessing we'll get a good looking spider man game with a cod plot
i loved that first story, best eva
I can imagine spiderman should be handled, to be one the fastest climbers of any game character and swinging between buildings. While locking on to targets with the web shooters, while his comments would go on autopilot as you go about them.
