Back in 2012, Quantic Dream released a compelling tech demo that really blew people away. Later, the studio went behind the scenes and we learned more about Kara's creation.
Now, however, the big moment is here: The Heavy Rain developer has officially unveiled Detroit , which is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4.
Quantic Dream boss David Cage says he asked himself what might happen when Kara left the factory, and if the machines started to experience real emotion. However, he says they didn't want to do another standard AI story (as there are a great many). Instead, the team "wanted to talk about what it means to be human what it would be like to be in the shoes of an android discovering our world and their own emotions." It's not entirely dissimilar to Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" concept, in truth.
We don't yet have a date for Detroit but we're excited; it's almost gauranteed to be a stellar exclusive for PS4.

Oh Man they did it!!!!
I was so pissed thinking they would go ahead with the not so exciting Sorcerer Project and keep Kara as a tech demo, even after the Internet blew up with positive response to it.
Now this will have me buy a PS4 more than UC4!
Starts saving for special bundle with etched Kara now! 🙂
Truly Impressive!! I never watched the tech demo but this game sounds very promising.
You should really watch it
The tech demo trailer feels more emotionally powerful than this trailer.
Bebestorm,
I tried to find the original tech demo here on PSXextreme, but it was taken down.
But I still managed to find it here for you……

BTW, the tech demo is now 2&1/2 years since it came out, but damn if it doesn't still manage to emotionally send chills up & down my spine(in a good way, of course) 🙂
It was linked in the article, too. 🙂
Oops, sorry Ben,
Was using my tiny tablet & all the print seems to blend in together.
plus at my age, my googles don't see to working as well as they should be, so I guess I gotta go find me a four-eyes fixer soon.
Man…. they keep coming up with really fantastic concepts.
Definitely going to keep my eye on this one.
This looks awesome
Wow, Nice! Now this is exactly what I was hoping for from Quantic Dream. That Kara tech demo was one of the most promising I've seen, so it's nice to see that this time Cage actually took that story and went with it! Now this game is one of my most anticipated games, just alongside with Uncharted 4…
I didn't see any date mentioned in the video though, any year mentioned by QD at all?
"they didn't want to do another standard AI story" he says, and then goes on describing one of *the* most traditional AI sci-fi themes of all: What it means to be human what it would be like for an android to discover our world and their own emotions.
He can't possibly have read a single sci-fi short story collection, nor seen movies like "AI", "Ex-machina", "I, robot", "The Machine" or "Her" (all highly recommended btw).
But hey – it's a great theme indeed and I look forward to play (see?) it. But really… If they manage to make an original twist on that theme I'll eat my shorts.

I'm fairly certain there's going to be a lot more to the story than that.
You'd know more about David Cage's storytelling ability if you played his games.
Um wow! Quantic surprised me. David Cage surprised me. The whole AI or sentient life storyline and what it means to be human I thought he was abandoning because the Kara tech demo was brilliant, but they said it was ONLY a tech demo.
They got me all excited again for what hopefully is a compelling story as well as a journey.
This has made my day.
Keep playing!
Ohhhhhhh…. Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!!

Watching the first half of the trailer, and I'm like…
This is picking up where Ex-Machina left off. Neat!
I thought the trailer was amazing, i also reckon this has the potential to be a great game.
Also whats great is Heavy rain and Beyond two souls are coming to ps4 as remasters, never played the latter.
trust me, your better off not playing beyond two souls aka the ellen page variety hour.. david cage makes horrible barely interactive movies and trys to pass them off as games.. he'll never make a good "game".. he doesn't know how
Really nice.
why do people keep giving david cage money to make boring, stupid, poorly acted barely interactive movies that he keeps trying to pass of as a gmes?.. at least yahtzee on zero puncuation will have fun ripping this lastest crap fest apart

I'm with you mate i can't see what all the fuss is about when it comes to this bloke,i don't care how good the story is in his games/movies,because all you can do is hit a button when prompted,i don't call that game play but others do and they seem to worship him and his so called games, one wonders if some gamers are more like sheep than gamers, right i'm getting out of here before all the flake starts.
PS, i do like the look of this but then we get reminded who's making it,i lose all interest because it will be another hit this button when prompted yet again,if so i'll be giving it a pass. 🙁

Although I have the same feelings as you about the game being just "button prompt", I wouldn't bash detroit streight away. The theme is very interesting (for me at least), reminds me of Blade Runner and The Island movies.
Yeah, the gameplay in Heavy Rain was medicore at most and I didn't play Beyond because of that. But if Detroit will have amazing story where your decisions realy influence the ending, I'll be happy.
We cannot say much at this point so let's wait for the release and reviews.
