EA Claims New Need For Speed Looks “Spectacular”

For the first time in over a decade, we didn't get a new Need for Speed installment in 2014.

But expect the franchise to make a triumphant return this year. EA has offered gamers some encouraging – albeit relatively vague – news concerning the new title's progress.

During a recent earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the game in question will indeed launch this year, and it's "already looking spectacular." Last year, developer Ghost Games promised they'd listen to all the racing fans, and they're going to "give you the game you've been asking for." But because they plan to do this, they needed a little extra time.

Thus far, we've really only heard rumors, but we're hoping NFS returns with a vengeance.

Won't look as nice as Drive Club, something I play pretty much nightly now. Some of them races are so hard to get 1st at.

I really want to get Driveclub. Just took advantage of that seasons pass glitch for Dying Light @ gamestop, so it'll have a wait a little longer. $20 for dying light was too good to pass up!

Sometimes I wish there was a rewind feature in Drive Club but I do love racing the beautiful tracks over and over again.

Those leaderboards always beckon you to gain a spot or two before going to bed.

I'm probably in the minority here but i hope they don't go back to the underground street racing crap and ditch the open world and or circuit tracks structure.
I miss the old need for speed games. Go back to exotic locations and exotic cars…add total customization and performance tuning. Maaybe dynamic weather and a day/night cycle. Bam, you've got my dream nfs game.
Hot pursuit wasn't perfect but it was several steps in the right direction imo. I enjoyed it.

I am with you 100%. Underground was one of the worst spin-offs of the series. I just hope they can convince Criterion to come back to the series. Ghost's performance was so underwhelming.

The ability to race for pink slips would be a welcom return as well

Sadly, I believe Burnout (the best racing series of the last decade) is over and done with.

Since all the new NFS game have been a major disappointment iv been replaying NFS Underground 2 and its still my favourite. Bring on Underground 3! And would be smart to add steering wheel support with 6 gears also..
