Rumor Mill: FFXII HD, New Suikoden, Xenosaga HD, More

JRPG fans might get excited…

Industry insider Verendus, well known at the NeoGAF forums, has been dropping some very intriguing hints. For example, he's teased a brand new Suikoden , which would make all long-time JRPG aficionados cheer (even though it's "very far off").

But that was just the beginning; Verendus dropped a boatload of hints , many of which we haven't heard before. If even a small percentage are true, we could be looking at some very big news in 2015. There's the possibility of a Xenosaga HD Collection , Final Fantasy XII HD is "basically confirmed at this point," a new Virtua Fighter is in the works, and an unnamed IP "coming to PlayStation exclusively from Sega." No idea what that might be…

Anyway, here's hoping this isn't just a whole lot of hot air.

VIRTUA FIGHTER!!! (but now that Sony drew blood with SF I hope MS doesn't try to lock down VF, even though VF doesn't pull a lot of weight, especially outside of Japan)
Here's hoping Shenmue is part of the gig here.
So many hopeful jRPG releases here. It almost seems like a too good to be true scenario so I'm skeptical. That's a lot of games with cult followings. It almost seems custom tailored to get people excited for no reason other than to eventually piss them off.

I loved Virtua Fighter 2 on the Sega Saturn!

We need all these old games to help us since they've run out of ideas. Long live Ryo and his kitten!

Saturn's Virtua Fighter 2 was the pinnacle of fighting excellence.

Virtua Fighter is my favourite fighting franchise period.

I'm a martial artist in real life and I love the attention to detail they put into the arts that the characters use in that game.

I'm really looking forward to a new entry.

Same, I hope they're on the PS3/PS4 and not the Wii-U. We never got a chance to play them in the UK as they only released Part 2 here… needless to say I was not willing to give the series my time with just part 2 but Xenoblade was my favourite game of last gen so I'd love to play them.

I'll be very surprised if we don't get a Final Fantasy XII HD edition by the end of 2015, it's just aching to happen. If it does, I will be willing to try it again – As the PS2 version looks awful on a HDTV

fans been screaming for a FFVII remake and they make FFXII HD…possibly one of the worst FF titles next to FFXIII, S-E really wants to go bankrupt

The story is bland-ish, but the gameplay was an outstanding step in the right direction. Too bad they abandoned it.

I didn't like that XII gameplay, it wasn't FF. We gotta have separate screen active turn FFX or X-2 based greatness for it to even feel like FF.

FFXII was better than VII imo. My top FF game after X.

I'm ok with people liking other FFs in whatever order they like.

But FFVII was the greatest technological leap and accomplishment of the series. It is the greatest.

Opinion does not play a part in that discussion. All it determines is which you enjoyed the most.

That's like me saying I don't enjoy God of War or Grand Theft Auto, therefore, they are not great games.

The remakes are kind of neat, but the big news is the potential for a new Suikoden. That's killer.

If it happened it would destroy Final Fantasy (properly marketed of course)

I'd be ok with that.

(My teenage self would probably have attacked today me for saying that)

I know the feeling, remember when time compression allowed Squall to meet himself as a kid? If that happened to me I couldn't and wouldn't tell young me what would happen to FF.

New Suikoden!? I could died a happy gamer despite how badly jrpgers have been tossed into the trenches. Now is this a xenosaga HD remake of the first game or full blown HD collection of all three?

I have FFXII…in the wrapper still. But I'll most likely still get the HD version and try and sell my PS2 version. It was simply sitting there in my backlog this whole time.

I've never played a Suikoden game, but I know of them and hear they're great. I may've already purchased one or two digitally. But this is great news as well, as the current console generation could use one to appease the fans.

Xenosaga: I have all 3 for PS2, untouched. Again, part of my backlog. If so, I'll give it the same treatment as FFXII and upgrade.

Good news all around though, since I've gotten into (J)RPGs a lot more in the last few years.

Virtua Fighter is one of the few fighters that I've never been that crazy about. I like the characters, but I find the control scheme to be very limited, at least the last time I played it. Is it still the 3 button layout?

I wonder if the unnamed IP is ChuChu Rocket. Or perhaps the next Shenmue?
