Ben-DutkaWith the rumor that Sony might announce two AAA PS4 exclusives in December, it begs the question:
What does the PlayStation 4 need more? A new God of War or Gran Turismo ?
In other words, which would result in better hardware sales? There's no guarantee that either of these games will be announced later this year, but we have to assume both will eventually arrive, so the question remains relevant. On the one hand, God of War is one of the most acclaimed franchises in video game history, and a new GoW adventure on an awesome new console would be huge . Don't forget that these installments typically flaunt the power of the PlayStation brand, so it might be a good idea to produce a new entry ASAP.
On the other hand, Gran Turismo has always proven to be a big money-maker for Sony because it so frequently pushes hardware sales. Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec pretty much defined the summer for the PS2 back in 2001, remember? And of course, GT always showcases the power of a PlayStation console as well. Racing is also an extremely popular genre around the world, and could result in a major global bump for PS4 sales. Even the name "Gran Turismo" still carries a ton of cache in the industry.

Yeah, as sad as i am to say this, there's really no where else they can go with God of War, I mean it will never be a God of War title without Kratos so why tarnish the good name?

GT no question, and no it's not just because I'm a GT fan. God of war is great, but I think even a new IP like Gueriillas rumored game in development would create more hype n interest.
With the amount of racing games coming out over the next few months, I don't know if releasing GT7 right now would be beneficial to anyone.
Wait till 2015 I say.
Well they will only announce the two new games in Dec I doubt they'll be able to release it this year… mostly likely late 2015 or early 2016

I would love a new GoW, but perhaps shifting away from Kratos. Maybe a new protagonist. Not much of a fan of GT, but it has a big fanbase.
Either would push sales and would please fans easily.

Personally a new God Of War but a new Gran Turismo would be better for Sony.
With a slew of racing games about to flood the market, I doubt a GT7 announcement would raise any eyebrows. That and GT6 didn't do terribly well in the sales department if I remember correctly.
A new GoW would probably do better, but it would have to be better than garbage that was GoW: Ascension.

Personally I liked Ascension and considering it was a prequel it was a good story… Although after an epic game like GoW3 I can see why ppl would be a Little disappointed in Ascensión… Nevertheless I still enjoyed it
In all honesty, GT7 could use the publicity. However, there are plenty of pissed loyalists who feel betrayed by the exclusion of hardware support.
GoW, on the other hand, has the potential of rebooting the IP. If executed well, both sides of the fence wouldn't be able to resist.
GoW has my vote… Under the circumstances of it being massively revamped.
For some odd reason, alternate universes seems like a good path to travel.

Neither, they're both stale now & SONY should focus on new IP's. Both series had their highlights but enough is enough, time to bury these classics & move on imo.
I say GT7 I am not sure about everyone else but I have mostly gotten of GoW it just feels done to me. I won't complain if another gets released but I won't get overly excited should one be announced.
sales wise GT7, come on GT is THE best selling franchise in playstations HISTORY!
but ps4 does not really need sales, its been selling amazingly well!
ps4 needs something that will show people what it can do, something that will make people go WOW now THIS is what we waited EIGHT freaking years for!
so in that case definitely GOW.
GT7 can only amaze so much, theres only so much you can do with track racers.
GOW on the other hand, more enemies, bigger stages, bigger bosses and moving levels, theres tons $SM could do to make people really go WOW!
GT7 only if it's next gen worthy. Last one I played was GT5 and I didn't finish it. I feel like they haven't changed much besides for visuals. And they must have realistic damage for me to consider it. Enough of this bumper car crap. I want to know that if I destroy my car it's end of the race for me.
Seems we have a flood of racing games on the horizon, I don't think a GT7 this early would be a good idea… as for GoW, i think it is finished, they achieved everything they wanted with GoW3 and I can't see them doing any better so just leave it there.
I love the GoW series, but maybe it's time for Kratos to hang up the Chaos Blades. GT has always been a system seller too, but I'm not really excited to have a new installment in either. I'm kind of hoping for something new…
OT: I found a used copy of Heavenly Sword at EB this weekend and picked it up. Wow, I had almost forgotten how much I freaking love this game. I can't wait for Hellblade, but I would still love a new adventure with Nariko and/or Kai.
Oh god neither hahaha, but seriously….
First, GT7 needs to be leaps ahead of what GT6 offered to make it worthwhile. PD needs to add/provide up-to-date cars (GT6 still only provides a concept 08 Camaro with no high performance variant in sight), dynamic/consistent visuals (ALL PREMIUM), intelligent AI racers (no more low tech robots in disguise), a more stable and coherent online set up, and above all, a more involving well thought out experience (get rid of paints chips, make cars more open to personal customization, etc). And for the love of god, we need a significant decrease in Japanese manufactured cars (how many Skylines does one need in one lifetime). I'm pretty sure GT6 did so poorly (or not as great) because it was literally a repaint of the old game. Don't get me wrong, I love the driving mechanics of GT5 and GT6, the wide array of tracks and day/night cycle, but overall both games are too similar and archaic for me to be excited about where they may or may not go with the next entry. Time will tell.
As for God of War, I and II have classic written all over them. III, when played, definitely felt like it needed the old lead directors touch, but I enjoyed it immensely. But God of War Ascension, my goodness. Not sure if my lack of fondness towards the game was/is due to my maturation or lack of interest in the hack and slash genre all together, but Ascension pretty much put the nail in the coffin for me. And with Kratos gone, who cares honestly about someone else's side story. And if he is still alive, what is driving him in the sequel? Ascension lacked drive and thus, I found it to be blah. Sounds like another recipe for disaster in the sequel.
I rather see a new IP unless Santa Monica can create new life in the dying GOW franchise and/or PD can finally modernize GT and catch up with the times!!!!

You would be surprised to find that you can customize quite a few more things now in the current version of GT6..
– "Build" a rear wing to your liking on all the cars.
– Install new gauges on the inside of the premium cars.
– Add racing numbers to the outsides of all cars.
– Paint the brake calipers on the vehicles.
Other features such as online match-making and a wickedly cool point to point Rally race on a new track (think "Cruising USA") have been patched in as well.
Definitely all steps in the right direction. I noticed the new matchmaking, but not the others. Time to put in GT6 and play with the other new features. Thanks for the heads up Max!!!!
I'm pretty sure GT7 will be announced at some point but considering all the racing games coming out I'd go with God if I was Sony for now…But personally I want a new IP
Well, i don't see how a new Grand Turismo game would be leaps and bounds above the competition. Outside of the name.
The only way i would buy a new God of war game….would be if they made it opened world like the Witcher 3
I think sony would be better served if they gave Heavenly sword, Twisted metal or Motorstorm the ps4 treatment.
They did give Motor Storm the PS4 treatment, it's called Drive Club and Evolution proved they are not a studio of the calibre that's required to make next gen AAA games.
I'm not a fan of the GT series but after this whole drive Club debacle i could see them gaining a ton of interest in a game that's always been done right. Anything but another third person action game, please.
Personally I'd rather see Twisted Metal return but given to a studio that actually cares about quality and not just the quick cash grab.
well i think it is entirelly possibly they we will get both but when is another matter entirely
and on evo and motorstorm i would like to see the series carry on to the ps4
