Who Else Wants Bloodborne To Be Just Like Darksiders?

Let me explain:

As much as I respect the Demon's Souls and Dark Souls games, they're not quite my thing. They're just a little too brutal for me in terms of difficulty.

Call me names if you like but I play games to relax. If I consider them a chore, I'm not really interested. One of the games I really loved was Darksiders II . It had the structure and bones of a role-playing game, but the more simplified action approach. The combination was absolutely fantastic; I just couldn't stop playing. There were some challenges, the game was a great length, and the depth and streamlined action/RPG-type gameplay just worked.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for from Bloodborne . I'm seeking a more action-oriented premise in the gameplay videos – as opposed to Dark Souls , for instance – and while I don't want Devil May Cry , I do want an action/role-playing experience that's very similar to DSII. There's no telling when we might see Darksiders III ; Nordic Games is the new owner of that IP and the future is sort of hazy. Therefore, I'm looking to From Software to scratch this particular itch.

Ben sorry to say but from everything I have heard Miyazaki has already confirmed it will AT LEAST be as difficult as Demon's Souls(his own words here) and even then you still have to worry about the other players. PVP/Coop will apparently be seamless now with players simply phasing in and out of each others games with no warning.(This last part is from a supposed leak but contained a lot of info that was later confirmed so seems very likely).

Sadly these games just seem like they are not meant for you. =

Very sad for me too, I mean look at it. It's visually made for somebody just like me, but my 33 year old mind/hands can't make it happen right.

While i do play most games to for fun and to relax i do like a challenge sometimes and Bloodborne will be mine… I usually play strategy games for that but after seeing bloodborne i need to have it

That all sounds amazing, Shauneepeak. Don't get me wrong Ben, I love relaxing games… but I want Bloodeborne to be a fast paced Souls-type game. There are plenty of easy games coming out, I need at least ONE challenge.

Souls games are not fast paced.

I never said that, I said I want Bloodborne to be fast paced Souls-type game, as opposed to a fast-paced easy game.

The guys at IGN played Bloodborne behind closed doors at Gamescom, they said to the From Software guys there that it felt much more fluid and faster than the Souls games, and they said that was their intention.

However, it doesn't actually change the gameplay too much, the increased Speed just means you will have other options during combat, rather than just hiding behind a shield (there is no shield ahaha).

So this is going to be a Souls game, with faster combat.

I think it was already revealed the game was going to be hard. Perhaps hard games like this should just make a "relax" mode. Which, yes, of course, that's just another name for "easy" mode but the term "relax" mode may not hurt gamer pride as much.

Anyway, can't say I liked the addition of looting in DSII. I also can't say I ever got taken by a souls game. I don't know what to expect here. I'll just wait for the reviews on this one and then decide from there.

Thing is a relax mode with active PVP invasions would give those players an unfair advantage.

Also what do you mean "addition of looting in DSII"?

I always love loot, Borderlands would be considered a trash game without basic looting of mostly useless stuff.

Some games have changed their easy mode to "casual" to be nicer.

I know what looting is I just don't know what they mean by looting. There is no looting in DKS2 that there was not in DKS.

Shaune. Don't say false things. Go back to Darksiders then go to Darksider 2.
DS2 makes you stop and pick up, sort, track, sell, and keep everything and anything. To me, it's boring inventory upkeep. Some people like sifting through that stuff to kill a bunch of time.
I find it annoying. I don't care for being a scavenger in games outside of like Skyrim and Fallout. To me, something like that fit the nature of the experience in said games.

I suppose Darksiders wasn't content with just being a GoW/Zelda clone. They supposed they needed to dump every MMO or dungeon crawl scavenging (looting) system in there as well. For me, it ruined the pacing of the game where now I'd sooner play a Zelda or a Ninja Gaiden again than to play more of that conglomeration of ripped off components. Which includes scenes that feel yanked right out of LotR.

Oh I thought you meant looting in Dark Souls. That's what had me all confused.

Darksiders II is fun but still kind of comic/childish. I want Bloodborne to be adult and creepy and genuinely darkly amazing in a different way.

You are all saying it will be stupid hard, so I guess I'm off the boat or I can just hope there is pressure on the devs by the pubs (something I usually hate) to allow others besides Souls fans to play.

Thing is Demon's Souls and Dark Souls aren't really hard they simply have a VERY steep learning curve. Once you get down how to properly handle things and acquire the appropriate mind set the game become much more manageable. Hopefully this will be the same way.

It just might take you 100 deaths and 10hrs before you get a grasp on the game! XD

Steep learning curve + 10 hours + 100 Deaths = hard lol

We'll, I'm with you Ben. And they can call it easy mode if they want to! I don't have the time to sink into a Souls like game. I'm old and have a family. Games are my escape and I don't need to escape to a chore like frustrating activity. That's for young people with good reflexes and extra time on their hands, not me!

I do like the setting from what I've seen. Looks creepy & scary. Here's hoping for easy mode (they can even label it "wuss" mode and I'll still play it!).

Fans of Demons Souls and Dark Souls want a similiar game in Bloodborne that's better in every way. Not sure that means making it play entirely different though. No fan of this series wants this including myself. Yea it has a different name so the lore and mechanics will be different, but hopefully they don't stray too far away from these Souls titles.

Soul fans don't want to see a drastic change because they expect a re-imagined experience on the ps4 with a new theme. Souls fans don't want to endure the Final Fantasy tragedy! 😉

Hell no. Sorry The souls series is unique for what it is. If you can't handle what they dish out then skip it. I know it sounds harsh, but we need diversity in games not the same crap. Hopefully maybe one day Darksiders will get a sequel, but for not leave that gameplay out of Bloodborne.

I usually play most games on the hardest difficulty anyways so this doesnt bother me at all besides Dark Souls is not really all that hard once you get a handle on it and i enjoyed all the hours i spent on it

Ben, knock it off. The Souls series DOES NOT need to be like anything else. Souls is its own thing and theres nothing like it.

We didn't think this would be part of the Souls series since, you know, it's not in the name.

True, D85. FROMSOFTWARE isn't in the habit of making games catering to those to which gaming has become a passing fancy or simply like pressing forward the analog stick while pretty explosions happen on screen.

He didn't say he wants the Souls series to be like Darksiders.

He said he wants Bloodborne to be more like it. Meaning faster more action oriented combat.

Rather than the hide behind a shield and die continuously till you beat your enemy approach of the Souls games.

Akuma, I know what he's asking for and still a big Hell no! FromSoftware has got this.

I just want pvp to not be a laggy piece of crap. That's all I want. Is it so much to ask that my enemy not be 50 feet away one second and then back stabbing me the next? I don't think it is.

Now for being on topic, I never played darksiders 2, so if the game does play like it, I wouldn't know. However, dark souls with a gun sounds kinda nice. Actually, dark souls 2 with a call of duty mod sounds hilarious. Someone make it happen. Topic be damned

I hope it's nothing like Darksiders. I mean, come on, we already have a franchise for that and some people greatly enjoy the Souls games and their style, myself being one of those people. Sure, it might not be for everyone, but then again Darksiders isn't for everyone either. I for one don't like the games so if they took an established franchise with a certain style and changed it into a totally different thing (Final Fantasy) I would be pissed as I'm sure many other people would be as well.

So happy From don t listen to those who want the game to be something else , to be press x to win like most games nowadays . I hope that series will never end up like final fantasy/resident evil and don t care about what the fan want ( we are the reason these games existed this long afterall ) .

Darksiders is a game that plays like Zelda and Kratos had a baby. Dark Souls is a game that plays like Ghosts n Goblins and Satan had a baby.
If these two babies had a fight, a baby fight if you will, to determine who had the right to sire this new Bloodborne game, I think most people would like to see Zeltos lose and Gobtan win. "All hail the mighty Gobtan!" is what people would say. In fact, I heard from a questionable source that Bloodborne was only a working name for the game, and it will be known as Gobtan on release.
