Watch Dogs Has Staying Power, More Multiplayer For FC4

If Watch Dogs does well financially, expect more installments.

Obviously, the promising new IP hasn't even launched yet, so the publisher's goal is to get it out the door. However, that doesn't mean they're not looking toward the future.

As Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez said during a recent earnings call , Watch Dogs should have staying power:

"Very clearly, the priority today is to release the game, and make it a success. Of course we believe it has the power and the potential to become a longstanding brand for Ubisoft."

They didn't confirm any announcements for a sequel, as Martinez added that they need to make the first game a success. Additionally, in another part of the call , Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said fans can expect "a lot more multiplayer" in the freshly confirmed Far Cry 4 . It's part of the company's goal of "launching games that will be played for a longer time."

Heck, I don't mind replaying single-player campaigns if they're great. Guess I'm old-school that way.

Something about counting chickens before they hatch.

Two player storyline coop would be awesome in Far Cry. But it does not need the standard, generic multiplayer modes. No thanks.

I for one am all for the multi-player availability in far cry 4, 3 left a shit tonne to be desired but it was a step in the right direction. As for watch dogs, I'm 99% sure they are already working on a sequel, its one of the most anticipated games to launch when the next gen consoles released.

Oh, BS, Ubisoft. Anyone with half a brain knows that you've already got a sequel to WD ready to go into full production as soon as you find out that the first came close to its goal of equal sales to that of AC1. With the investment that's gone into WD, in terms of man-hours and money (for both development and advertising), along with their expectations, there's no way that they aren't putting out a sequel in 2016 unless the first bombs ridiculously hard (I'm talking a review aggregate of 4 and less than 2 million copies sold).
