Fortnite Takes in Over 220M in March Alone

As initially reported by gamesindustry.biz, a publication that follows the business end of video games, Battle Royale super hit Fortnite took in over 220 million USD in March alone. This figure is based on data from research firm Superdata which covers sales data for video game hardware and software. Superdata also notes that total revenue is up slightly over last year, for a total of 8.9 billion in March alone. So much for springtime droughts!

Interestingly enough this only puts Fortnite at 5th among PC games for total digital revenue for the month, behind monetary monsters Dungeon Fighter Online, League of Legends, Fantasy Westward Journey Online II and Crossfire, most of which are more popular abroad (namely China) than here in the west.

Perhaps even more impressive is that 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V is still holding strong at 5th in digital revenue for console games, right behind last year’s Call of Duty: WWII.

Are you playing? How much have you spent? I’ve bought a few Battle Passes, myself…
