Activision has pulled several of their games off PSN without much warning. In a thread posted to ResetEra, the poster noticed there are a grand total of fourteen games missing from the PlayStation Network.
Odds are, Activison’s rights to the delisted games have expired and this is the reason for the surge of unavailable games.
This isn’t new to the world of gaming. Digitally downloading games is an increasingly popular thing, but alas, there are definitely issues. For starters, gaming on digital platforms can disappear at any moment, a la P.T.-style. Then there’s the inevitable loss of licensing to developers. Many of the games that disappeared were games licensed by third-parties.
Here is the full list:
Angry Birds Star Wars
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
Deadpool
Ghostbusters
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
The Amazing Spiderman 2
The Legend of Korra
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5
Transformers Devastation
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark
White Night
What do you think? Are you sad to see one of these Activision games go?
Don’t care for any of these games, but Activision should stop handling licensed material if they don’t plan to keep up with them. I may not care about these games but i’m sure there are others that do.
This is why I’m hesitant to go full digital only. I like my physical media, although it can be a pain when you have a ton of games and space being filled up and having no more extra room to store them, which I understand why people like digital.
