Crisis Core Gets Japanese Release Date

One of the biggest games of the year, on any platform, will likely be Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PSP. If it's everything it could be, Sony's portable will benefit greatly from this installment in the famed Final Fantasy franchise, and fans will receive a very nice gift.

The only problem was, up until now, we didn't know when to expect it. Release date estimates have ranged drastically over the past six months or so, and all we really had was a "TBA 2007" or a more specified "Summer 2007" estimate. But as Forever Fantasy tells us, Japanese magazine Shonen Jump is listing a release date of August 2, 2007 for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII .

Square-Enix hasn't officially confirmed the date, but it's a darn good possibility this is for real. It's no surprise that Japan would stumble upon this date before anyone else, so let's hope August 2 is indeed the finalized time of release. Let's also hope the date is the same – or at least similar – for a North American release. Because frankly, fans are salivating even as we speak.
